Leap 4 Blue at first seems a little intimidating. There’s a large expanse of impassible terrain, and your tiny character is tasked with jumping across the chasm to reach his goal. However, there’s a twist.

Icarus is one of the many tragic stories in Greek mythology. Daedalus built wings from feathers and wax so that he and his son Icarus could escape from Crete and return the the Greek mainland. But Icarus flew too close to the sun. His wings melted and he fell to his death.

Flock Together is a game where you play as a little girl who has lost her sheep. Except instead of the sheep wandering off to greener pastures, she accidentally tied one too many balloons to him.

Since our audience tends to be literary nerds, many of you probably already know that today is National Punctuation Day in America. To celebrate, we’re going to do a game about the pinnacle of language, which is of course the haiku. It is a 3-line poem with the first line having 5 syllables, the second having 7, then the third having 5 again.

Orfeo is a music game. Not a rhythm game in the style of Guitar Hero, but a game where you actually have to make music. In Orfeo, you play a lyre using your mouse, and in order to defeat each level, you have to elicit a certain emotional response such as fear, anger, happiness or sadness.

Epic Combo is like an evil, reverse Lemmings. Instead of trying to save tiny, helpless creatures from certain doom, you’re trying to setup an arena where you can score a 10,000-hit combo against them.

A while back on Act Casual, we featured a little title called Grow Cube, by developer “On” at EyeMaze.

Pyro went and hopped on a plane at the last minute this morning, waving happily and saying something about "suckers." In a panic, I found e7.

Games are brilliant at building a setting for a story. The interactivity may make it difficult to actually tell that story, but it also fills in the world in ways no other medium can. The setting is more than just a well designed level, however. The most powerful settings are about a very specific time and place, especially if you’ve been there in real life.

I am bad at puzzle games. I admit it; there’s no shame in it. Well, maybe a little shame. Still, my incompetence at puzzle games continues to astound me. I never got farther than the first area in Puzzle Quest because I sucked at combat, and it only had simple match-3 puzzles.
