Of T-Shirts, Mugs and Money

We've got some interesting new ideas in the works as we approach our o­ne year anniversary and I think it's time we shared a few of them. The concept of t-shirts and mugs featuring Stan (our mascot up there) has been bounced around for a number of months now but trying to find a way to keep the prices down while running a low number of shirts has been a barrier for us.

Shiny Happy Comments

If you'll take a look at the comments for this story, or any story for that matter, you'll notice something different. It may be hard to put your finger on it but I'll help you out. The comments don't suck anymore Yup, you heard it right. The comments look just like the forums, mostly act like the forums and are generally easier to use.

Elysium 2.0 Now Available!

After nine months of delays and excuses, Elysium and Elysia have finally shipped Elysium 2.0, no word yet on which console it will spit up on first. Big congratulations to the new parents and we all wish you plenty of sleep and worry free nights! We also plan to chuckle once in a while too, if that's ok.

Server Moved and Deus Ex 2 Delayed

We completed the server move last night so everything should be running ship shape! If you're having any issues with the site drop me a line so I can annoy Pyro until he fixes it.In other news, Chrisg let us know that Deus Ex 2's release date has been pushed back to Q1 of 2004 according to Gamestar.de. Not a bad move considering the glut of releases hitting the shelves before Christmas.

One More Server Move Tonight

Elysium's awesome Lionheart and Republic first impressions brought a lot of traffic to the site and indicated that we need an even better server to handle the load. To that end, we're moving to a brand new server with more RAM and a better handling of the back-end systems we use for the site.

Server Issues and Moves

Some of you may have noticed some slow down and the occasional server outage over the past week or so. We're outgrowing our current server so we will be moving to a new one on Sunday night. Until then all I ask is that you remain calm and stay in your seats, everything is going to be ok.

Design Changes on GWJ

Due to my irrational fear of change Pyro had to tie me to a chair before he went crazy go nuts on the site. In an effort to kill the right-hand menus and eliminate the dead space at the top he's placed the main menu items there and shrunk poor Stan. The page should now display better on 800 X 600 and appear a bit less "empty" in spots.

GWJ Sells Out

That's right, the first group to offer us sacks of money has received some ad space along left hand side of the page. Ok well actually, we've been looking for ads to off-set the cost of running the site a bit without having to resort to pop-ups or seizure inducing banner ads.

Just a quick heads up to you.  We're doing some heavy work behind the scenes, integrating the forums and comments system.  The good news is that it's going well and we have the entire database connected instead of the double registration system where you had to register seperately with the front page and the forums.  The bad news is that we're using the forum database to link it all
