GWJ Swag Update

Seeing as how we're close to the middle of July I thought now would be a good time for a GWJ swag update. We need fifty pre-orders of shirts and 50 pre-orders of mugs to get them made. Here are the current figures:    T-Shirts: 37 pre-ordered GWJ Mugs: 23 pre-ordered So out of the 2000+ people who visit the site each day this is where we stand so far.

Deus Ex Violentia

Summer is the time for rose-colored glasses if you're a gamer. There's plenty of time inside thanks to that bastard yellow ball of burning we call the Sun, and there's very few new releases to keep us occupied. There's usually so many good games in the Christmas/post-Christmas season that there's plenty left to tide us over.
A while ago I stumbled over a project called Nirvana thanks to a mention over at SuperMutant. It certainly is not the first time that one of our interviews features a remark along the lines of Â"a small team in [insert overly exotic countries such as Germany] is currently working on...Â".

July 12th to 18th

Your mileage may vary, but happy Monday! I have a confession to make this morning, IÂ'm not proud of it but here goes. IÂ'm constantly tempted to play Japanese RPGÂ's despite the fact that I havenÂ't enjoyed one since Final Fantasy VII. I donÂ't like the way most of them portray their characters as children.

Summer Doldrums

Another fairly slow news week for you guys to chew on.  The forums have been full of addiction and obsession over Joint Operations, a small clique of us have rediscovered Rise of Nations, and there's been some well tempered enthusiasm for the coming season of football.  In short, weÂ're pretty well sated, and thus unusually calm.  In some ways summer is the best time to be a

Sometimes I Feel Like I'm a Pawn in a Game

I've jumped on the Rise of Nations bandwagon this week and am learning valuable RTS skills such as pouting and pretending I'm having network difficulties. As I instruct my citizens to run this way and that, building temples and chopping down trees, I can't help but think I'm letting them down.

Mutant

Once upon a time there was a breed of men which we might term Real Men™.  These Real Men™ went to great lengths to ensure that they participated only in the socially sanctioned activities of men, wore male appropriate metaphorical pants, and were possessed of a certain cold, reserved manner.  These men knew their place in the world, the value of a dollar, and would never have used words

Confessions of a GameFAQer

I had a bit of an unintentional intervention this weekend. In fact, it came from my good friend Comcast, whose incompetence, laziness and generally poor customer service left me without internet access all weekend. Besides spending the fourth almost blowing myself up, I went through my Gamefly games, my Netflix movies and even watched a little TV.

Do You Come Here Often?

I started to play Zelda: The Wind Waker the other day. Or rather, I started to play it again. I hadn't touched the game in months. Getting back in to it was a little awkward. Firstly, I'd forgotten what I was supposed to be doing. Secondly, I'd forgotten how to do it. I knew I had to ask a boat for assistance. It could give me a hint about my next task.

A Blade of Stormwind

Certis made me a deal.  I could play on his WoW account, as long as I made it worth his while.  Now, normally this would involve nakedness and possibly chocolate, but this time he wanted me to write something for all you poor saps who continually feed his ego...er, read the site.  Thus, Quest Log was born. Quest Log is my fictional interpretation of the various quests and adventures that
