Guild Wars 2 Catch All

There's also a "Compact" option in that menu that will sort your inventory into the fewest bags possible and combine any partial item stacks. Running low on inventory space? Deposit Collectibles and Compact.

That wasn't my deleted character groan

Note that you use this web site to add your retail serial codes:

https://register.guildwars2.com/

Use your login address and select "yes" if you preordered/prepurchased. Doing this will change the four number code at the end of your display name (at least it did for me).

The official Twitter page confirms this here.

I found this a bit unsettling at first - I was afraid it would create a separate account - but it worked for me.

Those should be in the OP, not spoilered.

I've added a link to merphle's post in the OP. I plan to try to keep the OP relatively tidy that way.

If folks think an additional future post should be added this way to the OP, please PM me to make sure I don't overlook the suggestion.

I just wanted to take a second to say how great the GWJ community is. Everyone is super helpful, gracious and kind. It's a refreshing change from pretty much every other game that I've ever played.

Also, has anyone considered setting up an event for WvW? I mean, our guild is over 100 strong, so we should be able to get a pretty decent sized crew together to bring the pain in WvW. Any thoughts?

What I am still trying to get my head around is how to use my Mesmer clones effectively.

Holy crap where did you come from?

Here is an Inverse Druid in his natural habitat:

Scratch everything I've said about the mesmer. Things have changed dramatically since I played one in the BWE. The greatsword is pretty good now. But I like the staff better. Scepter seems pretty useless to me. Sword plus torch is a pretty good combo too.

I keep switching.

Greatsword and then scepter/pistol is great when I'm soloing. For WvW or when I'm doing 'group' events, I switch the greatsword to my staff for the chaos storm AoE. Also, I do love sword and torch when I feel like switching to melee.

I did face a similar hump, until I realized scepter/focus and dual-wielding swords wasn't going to cut it for me anymore. Don't know why it took me so long to remember to switch.

These jumping puzzles will be the end of me.

My main is sylvari, and the Grove's very first jumping puzzle may have made me grumble a bit too loudly. In comparison, Divinity's Reach was a cakewalk.

Wait, what? Oh, ArenaNet. I love you.

Another useful tip:

You can share waypoints via chat, and if it is a waypoint that your friends have previously discovered they can just click on it in chat to map to your location.

Once the AH, er I mean Trading Post returns, you can also sell items from anywhere in the world, though you do have to pick up your profit or anything you purchase from the TP NPCs.

Random neat feature, the moment you get mail, there is actually a bird that will swoop in across the screen and deliver it to you.

Even underwater. It leaves a trail of bubbles as it fli... er... swims.

Sit back for a second and think about this: the GW2 client movement and control is so tight and crisp that jumping puzzles are actually a) possible, and b) not that hard.

I find the controls are mostly fine, it's the environment and camera that can cause the problems. Some bits of puzzle have collision that doesn't match up with the visuals or what you expect to be solid, and I've had the camera go weird (lock to a perspective) when I got too close to a tower making it into Tomb Raider 1 controls.

completely disagree. I hate the jumping puzzles and i think they are wonky and weird. unfortunately my OCD completionist nature makes me feel compelled to do them anyway, even though i hate the stress that comes with them (and sometimes the vertigo)

I actually hated them in the BWE I did, but now I'm really loving them. I think my initial distaste was due to my first jumping puzzle being one in the Grove that was incredibly difficult. I started a charr this time around and find the jumping puzzles much more to my liking. Instead of being mechanically complex, the focus seems to be on figuring out how to get to the vista, and less on executing the jumps perfectly. I like that.

Some jumping puzzles are better executed than others, but they're infrequent enough that I don't mind the occasional slightly dodgy one. Overall I'd say it's a positive thing though.

Anyone figure out a good strategy for that Fire Elemental event in NW Asura? Seems like the only strategy I saw people using was dying(including me). I saw it killed but it was just from like an hour of people reviving at waypoints and running back to do very little damage before repeating.

The vista jumping isn't what I am referring to. I am talking more about the full on jumping puzzles for achievments such as: (spoiler)

Just wait until you get to the big puzzle area in LA. Hint - make sure you bring a weapon that has an AoE you can target.

I got about halfway through that when my place in the WvW queue came up... and unfortunately exiting WvW didn't put me back where I was. So I think I'll need to go do that again, because that was a REALLY nifty place. Also, I found it greatly amusing that there was a player sitting by the water pool at the entrance to that area (just after the vista point), patiently waiting for people like me who couldn't make it into that area without dying, and offering res services.

Well someone just tried to reset my password according to an Anet. The e-mail states that if I take no action then no changes will be made to my account, hopefully I will find that to be the case when I get home from work in 9 hours.

They really need to get an authenticator out to us pronto.

I had two during the night as well.

Definitely this. I just did some looking around and someone in a forum said he had read something from an ArenaNet employee that they were working on it. So that's like an official guarantee. I can't believe that they aren't planning on offering them though and frankly I was surprised they didn't have them already in place.

I bought this game solely because my wife wanted to play it and when we logged on yesterday I spent the next 6 or 8 hours going "wow" over and over again.

Game is awesome.

Yeah, an authenticator is something I kept looking for before the game's release. I got hit with a password reset this morning, so now I'm really wanting one.

I got the password reset as well. Is it possible it was some sort of glitch on ANets end?

I also had 2 of them
