So far there's a lot to like and nothing to hate...
First day on the Internet, huh?
First really negative review I have seen.
Star Wars Outlaws Review - The Final Verdict - GamingBolt
I didn't get past the toy lightsaber story at the start.
On my 4k monitor with a 3080ti the cities can go to under 30fps. Had to go down to 1080p and low textures and the cities look terrible. But once I get into a mission the fps hits my cap.
I'm not signing up for a new service. Any word on when/if this will reach Steam or GamePass?
Game pass might happen but might be a while for steam. It is on epic though.
I think regardless of where you buy it from (Epic/Steam), you'll still have to have a Ubisoft Connect account. I know on Epic when you buy Ubisoft games it just essentially unlocks the game on Ubisoft Connect - so I just go there to play it rather than through Epic, as that's just another service layer to launch the game.
Steam I would imagine is the same way but not 100% sure. Can't think of the last Ubisoft game I bought on Steam.
Sounds like Assassin's Greedo is fun!
Just enough people I like are saying good things that I'm going to play this on Friday. I generally like Ubisoft open world games and prefer Star Wars when it's not focused on Jedi/Sith.
So far I feel like this game is closest to the Assassins Creed games vs any other Ubisoft title. I am enjoying going around the city and doing things, but the quests where you cannot get caught are not fun (well, until you get through them).
I bought an Ubisoft subscription and jumped in last night. 3 crashes to desktop in under 30 minutes. Might be a specific setting causing it, but lowering graphics settings didn’t seem to help and it was running fine each time - regardless of settings - until it crashed.

Same.
Not sure if this will help for the crashes but turning off the Ubisoft Connect overlay helped stop the game from locking up for me. Settings > Interface > Enable In-Game Overlay for Supported Games.
Haven't had any crashes in the game as of yet.

Ubisoft Connect crashing an Ubisoft game is the most Ubisoft thing I've ever heard.
Is premium + early access only for PC? I'm not seeing an option to install on my XBOX.
It took me a couple of attempts hours to get the game downloaded on my Series X, but it does work. If I remember the sequence correctly, you first need to sign up for Premium+, download the app from the Xbox store, link your Ubi account to your Xbox account, and then download the game from the Xbox store.
Apologies if I have some of the steps out of order, but it was getting late when I finally got to play.
Hopefully tonight I can put as much time into the game itself as I spent trying to download it.
I'll have to look in a bit. I was looking for it in the Ubi app game list, I'll have a look at the game's store page.
edit: Found it on the game's store page. Thanks!

I’m headed out of town until Saturday evening, but I’ll definitely look into that when we return. Thanks!
I bought this on a whim because Jeff Gerstmann has been pretty gushy about it and we often have similar taste.
I put about an hour and a half into it and I’m really pleased! The character seems likable and the action and systems seem robust.
Someone was saying that there are quite a few ‘one way to do it, insta fail’ stealth missions. Which is a mission style I don’t get on with. Is this true? Are there some but not too many?
I haven’t gotten very far but of the two stealth missions I’ve done so far, one had no penalty for going loud, and the other has options as to how to go about it. You have to reach a certain spot in a building, it’s “one way” that way, but how you deal with/dodge the guards is variable.
There are many that are if your caught you have to restart from the beginning. So far the side quests have been dont get caught more then the main quest.
Yeah, think I've only hit two stealth missions where you couldn't get caught. Most of the missions I try and break into a facility are not like that. Hell, I typically screw up the stealth and get in to all sorts of trouble. After trying to get in to this small Imperial sentry post I somehow messed that up and before I knew it, I earned Wanted status and had Death Troopers on the hunt for me.
That ended anti-climatically as I tried to go after the Death Troopers on my bike, and on the way crashed into an Imperial checkpoint. They swarmed me and shot me to death before I could recover. It cleared my Wanted status at least (at the cost of a bunch of credits).
But for the missions where you can't get caught, I don't recall it being a big deal if you do. I think there's progression save points as you go through the mission. And so far, those missions have been pretty clear on where you need to sneak to continue. I wasn't feeling frustrated after getting caught.
Great thanks.
Only a few hours in but am really enjoying what this game is doing. I like that Kay starts out as a complete incompetent idiot. The only difference between them and the other f*ck-ups in the galaxy is that she has someone looking out for her and an extremely competent pet. Pretty much every plan she comes up with is ill-conceived and fails pretty quickly.
Was running pretty well on medium settings on my, now older, PC. I did just have my first crash, though. Went straight to desktop.
I feel like I am playing a different game. The first few missions for factions have been stealth missions where you can't get caught, and if you fail it forces you to restart from the beginning (no save points). And it also hurts your reputation with that faction, even if you are in "good" standings with them.
I am quite surprised at how pretty it is. They really captured the "feel" of the Star Wars universe.
I'm finding the combat frustratingly bad in terms of the enemy intelligence and weapon options. Seems like an afterthought and the ability to not keep stolen weapons permanently or at least carry them in the inventory for some period of time compounds it. Does this get better at some point?
As far as weapons, I’d imagine you just keep upgrading your blaster and pick up alternatives when they’re around. The game is an amalgamation of a lot of open world games, and that particular bit is lifted from Assassin’s Creed (before they became RPGs).
In terms of enemy intelligence, I’m not really sure what you mean. They use cover and try to flank you, not sure what else they should do? In terms of variety, through five hours I’ve seen grunts, stormtroopers (somewhat more armored), and heavy troopers with repeating blasters and shields.
Edit: oh I also ran into probe droids in combat during a mission against imperials, and really tough combat droids during a pirate raid open world activity. Some hostile wildlife also.
