Looking at Visions of Mana I am debating what to get it on - PS5, Xbox Series X, or Steam.
The PS5 is more powerful so it might play and look a bit better - but I really love my Xbox controller more than the PS5 one. And dang it would be nice to take it away from the TV so the Steam Deck calls to me to.
Usually my choices are easy because I go for the cheapest (which means the SD wins since they actually have sales!) but this is a new game so it will be the same on all systems.
What is your go to system?
If it has a multiplayer component in any form (coop, competitive, souls-like ambient, etc), i get it on PC. I'm not willing to pay for PS+ anymore just for multiplayer.
Otherwise, it depends on the game. I tend to enjoy Assassin's Creed game on the couch, especially since my wife enjoys watching those games at the same time I play. That means I play them on PS5. Same with Final Fantasy games, since they tend to come to PS5 first. Big RPGs I tend to play on PC, especially if they're moddable or have a lot of crunchy mechanics. But since I only get a few games a year on day one, it often comes down to where it happens to be on sale when I finally decide to get around to it.
Computers were a mistake
PC is my default, and preferably Steam, though I'm less picky about which digital storefront on PC.
PS5 and Switch are only for console exclusives (unless I can wait long enough for a timed exclusivity to expire, then I'll pick it up on PC). I don't have an Xbox because any Xbox exclusive would also release on PC. Even when I play PS5 or Switch games, I'm still effectively playing "on my PC" because I have the HDMI signals routed into video inputs in my PC, so the displays are just windows in Windows (yes it adds a tiny bit of lag, but not enough to prevent me from platinuming Bloodborne, for example).
And yeah, I'll be picking up Visions of Mana on Steam, but not before playing through the prequel Trials of Mana first.

PS5. I’m the opposite, I like the Dualsense better than the Xbox controller. And I’m more invested into PS.
I don’t have a desktop PC because I already sit at a PC all day. I have a gaming laptop but it is less powerful than my PS5 and I’ve discovered I don’t really like laptop gaming anyway.
My preference is a TV and a controller. In the summer, I don’t spend much time in front of the TV so I’ve been using the PS Portal.
I do like the Steam Deck also, but I’ll still usually default to PS.
Being that my hardware is PC + Switch, it's an easy split into Switch-preferred for split-screen MP, PC-preferred for online MP.
But honestly, I'm heavily predominantly a singleplayer gamer.
You've never known true joy until you've shaken a lich stick at someone.
Normally I just pick whatever is cheapest with a physical copy. I play ps5 and xbox games on my steam deck with local streaming so I tend to get lots on my consoles. Also if it is a game that is going to get lots of time in that I want full portability info switch for the OLED screen I have.

Always PS5 whilst I have a laptop that runs low end games 95% of games are played on console and definitely all multiplayer.
Generally PC, but there are just a few experiences that scream "console" to me. That tends to be along the lines of Sony's strengths: Uncharted, The Last of Us, God of War, Horizon, Red Dead, etc. Also futuristic racers like Redout and Fast RMX.
