Dragon's Dogma 2 Catch-All

Pages

They're masterworks all, you can't go wrong.

An introduction my Ian McShane (Kung Fu Panda, Deadwood):

Releases March 22, 2024 on Playstation, Xbox and Steam.

Preordered on Steam today. Feel free to send me a friend request if you wanna share pawns.

I'm preordered on PS5, feel free to shoot me a DM if you want to add me so I know to accept the request.

Until then, replaying through the Wyrm Hunt quests in DDog1 on Switch

Same. I might still be in a FF7 haze, but climbing on dragons is just too much fun.

I'm on PC with this one. Should have FF7 done by the time it releases

I missed this one when it came out in Jan.

How pawns are getting better

Please do a good job of training your pawns on Steam. I'm going to be on vacation until early April, so I'm going to need them to help me catch up.

Man you're all making me wanna preorder but I'm gonna hold still. Even if it's good I bet it'll still need a couple patches when it comes out. That said greenman gaming has there usual preorder bonus which is still 60 dollars... Damn, I haven't looked at new big game prices for a while...

As much as I am now a fan of Dragon's Dogma. I want to properly finish the first and then FF16.
I will resist and have my absolute willpower dominate!

The game seems to be exactly what I’d hoped for in a sequel i.e. much refined but not too much changed from the original. I’m another who’s going to delay diving in but I’ll enjoy looking forward to a time when my dance card frees up enough to give it a good go.

I was having exactly this conversation with myself this morning. At my current rate of play, DD1 is going to occupy for at least another month. And then I need to go back to Okami (HD), AND make a dent in my pile (at least one from: Kena Bridge of Spirits; Alan Wake 1; A Plague Tale - Innocence; and Greedfall).

Also, I want a palate-cleanser, so I don't get burned out on fantasy medieval monster-hunting.

YUP! good goood! I want to ENJOY and properly finish DD1. I am not aiming for a 100% or a platinum trophy. Just a good satisfying playthough. WHAT A GREAT game this has been. So glad for this community that I was able to find this game. Late but what a game.

Also, just as I stopped smoking 20 years ago, with no excuses, no self jedi mind tricks, i just stopped. it was hard yes very very hard, but my willpower prevailed. I wil not dive into Dragon's Domga 2 at launch with its $70 tag and my backlog.

I will not buy this game until

1. I Finish FF16
2. Advance and finish on at least 3 of my backlog games (Bloodborne, Until Dawn, Uncharted 4)

Assuming I like and enjoy the above mentioned.

I am hastily moving through the work I need to do today so I can take an extremely late lunch in the event a demo drops after the Capcom event today lol.

I love that after years of devs talking about how capes don't work in games because of clipping we all decided they were too cool to care about the clipping and just rolled with it. That's not a bit I know it bugs some people but I'm glad we are rolling with it now

Prob a dumb question but can you create multiple characters? So lets say I want to create a warrior and then a magic user? I understand you cannot control your pawns so curious what we can do if we want to try different classes.

You will be able to switch classes. If it works like the first game, you'll choose from a few starter classes (called Vocations in this game), then at a certain point you'll be able to swap to more advanced ones.

In the first game there was a certain amount of min-maxing of stats required for different vocations to really sing, but it didn't necessarily become that important until you got into the endgame and Dark Arisen expansion content.

They're making it easier to swap between vocations in the sequel, and I'm curious to see if the stat min-maxing will still be a thing.

Very cool, thanks! Really looking forward to this one!

One of the things that is never explained in the first game is that stat growth is uneven. It's based on level and vocation. In order to make my character have even Magick and Strength, so I painstakingly leveled in a weird way that saw me hopping across vocations like crazy from 1-100 then being a Sorcerer from 101-200.

That being said, I'm strange so I don't recommend doing that. Also, the lion's share of stats will come from your gear, so it's not even that important. Put this way, my very exact method of leveling sees my Magick and Strength at a base of 600 each, but with weapons they gets up to 3500 or so.

I don't mind if DD2 has the same system, but just a little transparency in the mechanics would be nice.

There's a Warfarer vocation that will allow you to play multiple classes concurrently and switch in real time (including mid-combo!). The tradeoff for using the vocation is your base stats are lower than other vocations.

Yeah I vaguely remember doing this weirdness once. I actually played the main story at level 1 never leveling up until I unlocked the advanced classes. Just to min max a bit more.

This game does look AMAZING.
Looking forward to ready your spoiler-free impressions guys

You're probably remembering a different game, or confusing learning new skills with leveling up. In the first game you leveled up automatically once you got enough xp, but to learn new skills you had to talk to certain npcs. You wouldn't have been able to progress the main story far at all without getting higher than level 1.

A demo has been released, which allows you to play with the character creator. You can make 5 versions of both the main character and the pawn, which you will be able to import into the game.

EDIT: There are some very specific teeth customizations.

Actually had to check how it used to work. You can technically get there at level 2, but the normal low level is 10. This gives you a very very slight stat boost. I vaguely remember trying to do the quest to unlock the vocations was pretty brutal as I had to have my pawns do all the work. Course now I read that was mostly pointless as the expansion area lets you change class right away.

Yeah, this is certainly a robust creator. Is it me or are all the arisen voice variations the same?

I made one pawn and one character.

I agree there are more voice options than there are different voices. I spent most of my time on tattoos that I will never see.

Would it be "cheating" if I just innocently download this on the PS5 and JUST make my character and my pwan and that be it? hehe I wont play just make my character and have it ready for when the time comes

Sure. Just a little taste... Just once... What's the worst that could happen
