MLB 2024 Season - October is Upon Us

Yeah Os blew a 2 run lead in the 9th and the 11th yesterday?

No sweep streak extended to 103? Or does it only count 3-game series?

It counts. It is 103.

Dunno when/if I'll change that header image.

Astros beat the Yankees today so whatever

I feel that graph is misleading as 2023 is a whole year, and 2024 is only partial data. For many teams the average may go up over the year as they approach the playoffs.

There's also teams where it will drop significantly when it becomes clear how shitty they actually are.

Another factor is that there are a lot more day games during the week early in the season (at least in the northern part of the country). Those are always poorly attended so early game attendance numbers are going to be lower than the full season average.

I'm surprised my Cardinals are so high on the attendance rankings, as we limp towards once again losing so many in a row that the coach gets fired.

"PITTSBURGH -- The Chicago Cubs drew six bases-loaded walks in the fifth inning against the Pirates on Saturday, the most by a major league team in a single inning in 65 years."

Trolled my FiL who is a Pirates fan by asking if he'd win his first Cy Young as a Yankee or a Dodger.

Alternatively, WATCH FOOLISH BAILEY

Orioles nooner.

1st at bat HR. Last at bat HR. 3-2 win. Nothing in between but good enough.

The no sweep streak is alive at 105.

Ohtani is pacing with Suzuki's 262-hit year.

On Monday a Mariners fan named Josh caught a foul ball hit by a Mariner named Josh. On the next pitch fan Josh caught another foul ball hit by Mariner Josh.

On Tuesday Mariners fan Josh got free tickets to the game and the opportunity to get both balls signed by Mariner Josh and then to throw the first and second ceremonial pitches to Mariner Josh.

The odds of a fan catching those two foul balls is 1 in 10,000,000. The odds of both being Josh were not given.

Yeah, that was wild.

I’ve been too a lot of games in my life and never got anywhere close to a foul ball or homer.

UH.

yeah dude... Second MLB game ever no hitter? Protect that elbow!

Yankees are vvv good rn.

But.... it's May. It's not the 2022 season, our lineup is definitely better, at a minimum but...

...it's May.

Meanwhile, in Boston:

For tonight at least, Ranger > Rangers.

Dammit. Orioles no-sweep streak ends at 106. Weird ass delayed game from last night did it. Tied 1-1 and then lost the continuation at noon. Then dropped 5-4 2nd game of unplanned doubleheader.

Judge is now tied for 26th in hits, 33rd in average but leading in OPS. Now that he and Ohtani are not competing anymore they will have very good chances of taking the MVP crowns together at least a couple more years.

So if Angel Hernandez is retiring, does that mean his strike zone is retiring too?

That retired in 2015

Judge finished May with 20 home runs. In May 2022 he finished May with 18, before going on to hit 62.
