MLB 2024 Season - October is Upon Us

For his career, Aaron Judge is batting .199 in 55 postseason games, with 85 strikeouts.

'Encouraged' Dodgers say Ohtani has partially dislocated shoulder

LOS ANGELES -- Shohei Ohtani suffered a subluxation of his left shoulder during an attempted steal of second base Saturday night, potentially putting his availability for the rest of this World Series in jeopardy.

The Los Angeles Dodgers, though, were "encouraged," manager Dave Roberts said after a 4-2 win over the New York Yankees at Dodger Stadium gave his team a 2-0 lead in this best-of-seven series.

Initial strength and range-of-motion tests came back positive, Roberts added. Ohtani, whose injury is defined as a minor dislocation, was expected to undergo an MRI on his shoulder Sunday.

Consider not pitching to Freddie Freeman for the remainder of the series!

I am very, very close to congratulating the Dodgers on their WS victory.

Think that means Freeman has now homered in five consecutive World Series games - second ever to do so, along with George Springer.

This series, like '88, was over at the walk off.

It's bad if you can't hit.

It's bad if you can't pitch.

The Yankees can't do either.

The New York Yankees: The opposite of the Shohei Ohtanis

That's what someone who CAN run fast enough to beat a throw to the plate looks like, FYI.

Congratulations LA on your 2024 World Series title. Honestly, Good for Shohei.

via Reddit:

Aaron is going to have a really, really awful offseason. The tide, even among the fanbase, appears to have turned.

While Judge is absolutely the worst offender here, he's not alone. Anyone who is not Soto or Stanton, and maybe Rizzo, is playing like absolute shit right now, swinging at the worst pitches again and again.

I would not be angry if Boone benched as many as he can. Let's see what Cabrera, Trevino, Grisham and the Martian can do. And if the Yankees somehow reach game 6, let Cortes take over for Rodon.

Imagine having the most star-studded World Series in decades and almost all of them might as well be watching from home.

No need to imagine, fortunately! The upside for me is that a sweep is far less stressful to watch than a close back and forth. I will be very irritated if the Yankees activate 2004 Red Sox mode.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just in case there was any doubt about who the Series MVP is, Freeman sets a new record for consecutive games with homers

Even the White Sox would have tried something different.

Even the White Sox fans would have not tried something like that.

Good god, imagine if Betts had twisted his elbow or something while that embarrassment of a fan was trying to steal his glove

Why didn't I bet Freddie HR?

Whatever makes Yankees fan unhappy makes me happy

First time a team has ever blown a 6-run lead in the 9th of the WS?

The hell have THESE Yankees been?

Well, the Dodgers are out of pitchers at this point.

Volpe, my hero! No team down 3-0 in the WS has ever even gone to six games, so if they get that far I'll consider it a win.

Gentlemen’s sweep is gentlemanly.

Congrats to MLB - I'm sure they'd rather not have the series end on a Wednesday

Don't you assholes get my hopes up.

I will, however, take "holding serve solely at home." Just don't let em' celebrate on our field.

Just you wait - pretty soon somebody is going to inform Ohtani that a baseball game is going on, and then all bets are off.

In other news I was watching the digest yesterday and I noticed that besides those guys trying to steal Betts' glove, there were several other plays where fans tried but failed to grab fair balls. Then I remembered that Japanese has a useful slang term for such people: "yankasu" (yankees + kasu "dregs, scum").
