MLB 2024 Season - October is Upon Us

LOL. Oh my God.

What are the Mets even on?

LOL, the Mets truly just despite playing boring games.

7 IP with only 1 hit? Let's go to the bullpen!

That's the Rocco Baldelli special.

I'm very ready for the era of analytics idiots that never actually consider the situation to be over.

This game reminded me why I hate sports now.

Phils must have thought they were playing soccer. Score early then bunker for 89 minutes never works, though.

Total waste of Wheeler's 111 pitches.

Playoffs are bizarro world baseball.

OHTANI

I feel like a minimum of 10 runs is needed to win this one.

Like, he gets the rep as being all cuddly and respectful, but this dude wants to win as bad as Kobe ever did.

Castellanos hit a walk off and oh f*ck, who died?

I'm a bad fan. I had no faith at all that Big D*** Nick was going to pull that off. I just knew that the Mutts were going to take it in the 10th with yet another dinger after Casty strikes out flailing at a pitch out of the zone.

So glad to be wrong.

San Diego came to play today, I guess.

Forgive my east coast bias, but I had no idea there was this much enmity between LA and San Diego. Fans and players.

It's a shame that all the SI writers who pronounced the Dodgers-Padres to be the next great baseball rivalry a few years ago probably got laid off and replaced with AI.

Don't think that Kwan catch really was... but whatever.

A true story, told as a play in two acts...

Setting, my son's swin team practice.

Act 1: The hero looks at the score of the Guardian's game, sees it is tied at zero with one out in the top of the ninth. "Wow," he exclaims, maybe we can get home in time to catch extra innings.

Act 2: Looks down a minute later...

Carpenter's 3-run homer off Clase sends gritty Tigers to 3-0 win over Guardians in Game 2 of ALDS

They're starting to talk about you in October Aaron.....

Ok they definitely still are mad about last game. 6-5 in 3rd this is wild

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed that San Diego's current generation of uniforms look they're from Buffalo Wild Wings.

Most of the stars (bolded aside) really aren't shining much these playoffs.

Player / avg / ops

Ohtani / .231 / .693
Betts / .200 / .885
Harper / .333 / 1.316
Tatis Jr. / .556 / 1.969

Machado / .238 / 667
Soto / .375 / .944
Judge / .143 / .476
Witt Jr. / .158 / .316

Excuse me but this kind of comparison is extremely rude to hard-working UPS delivery people everywhere.

I still think Shohei is clearly the MVP.

But goodness, the season Francisco Lindor has had.

After tonight he won't have the Phils' bullpen serving up softballs.

I'm afraid to even look at Hoffman's post-season stat line. 1.1 IP, 3 H, 6 R, ERA 40.50. Bah.

I keep seeing articles about whether they should try to keep either Estevez or Hoffman in the offseason. You just saw that the answer is just "no".

Homie you are 1-for-the series right now.

If you'd told me that I would see a Stanton SB before I saw a Judge RBI in this series, I'd have bet my pay for the rest of the year on it.

I'm really confused why games are on both TBS and TruTV. Who has TruTV, a channel that only exists for the first week of the NCAA tournament, but not TBS? Wouldn't it make more sense for them to just run their usual 24-hour marathon of that stupid practical joke show?

I mean, the whole reason to buy the rights to these games is to try and force people to watch them on the channels that we generally scroll past in the guide, because maybe we'll stay and watch the following 16 hours of Impractical Jokers.

Hurricane Milton has ripped part of the roof off of Tropicana Field. If this gets any worse, the pirate ship at Raymond James might actually become a ship.

Edit: Nah, it's the whole roof:

I just realized that, by far, the best outcome for this postseason is for the Cleveland Baseball Team to get to the World Series only to get the shit beat out of them by Francisco Lindor.

I object very strongly to calling a Mutts victory "best" in any situation.
