And Judge hit 55.
This is the best HR race since McGwire/Sosa. Easily.
And it means we're completely overlooking THIS insanity:
If Judge hits 60, I believe he is the first ever to have back-to-back 60 HR seasons.
Sosa did it 98 and 99.
Sosa did it 98 and 99.
I stand corrected. Thanks, I didn't know that.
Another interesting one -- Bonds had the 73 in 2001, but nothing else over 49.
The juice is loose!
All kidding aside, 49 home runs is nothing to sneeze at.
And who is hitting around him and how well their season is going are factors.
Damnit Seattle, you're giving me hope with this late season surge.
Career Rockies Charlie Blackmon to retire
Seems to have had a solid career, and finishing with .290ish in his final year is damned impressive.
Some of my most favorite moments in sports that I have personally witnessed has been on that lot, but every sports team that called there home has left. I keep trying to imagine professional sports abandoning cities like Detroit or Milwaukee in droves just like this, because that's what professional sports leaving Oakland looks like to me.
Padres clinch playoff spot with a 9th inning triple play against the Dodgers with Ohtani on deck.
I stayed up late to see an Ohtani walk-off and all I got was a triple play
Worthless Angels getting swept.
I stayed up late to see an Ohtani walk-off and all I got was a triple play :D
And last night, a double play in B8 with Ohtani on deck. They won so he didn't bat in the 9th.
2 nights in a row, denied an Ohtani at bat in the final inning. Come on Padres, knock it off.
Tonight, Ohtani homer!
That was the saddest sports broadcast I've ever watched.
Funniest possible outcome is the Sox winning out.
The most exciting race right now is the Sox staving off infamy by breaking the loss record.
GOAT
So many mixed feelings about the A's last game and the last gasp of professional sports in Oakland in general. I left the Bay Area and California almost 20 years ago but continued to follow the teams from afar and when they visited KC and AZ over the years.
Although muted, this one hits the hardest.
Yah. I figured the A's would be the hold outs.
But the owner is just a giant putz

What'd I say?
to be fair they choked under Servais, they would have to have a phenomenal finish to get in.
What whatever, let's go Judge and whichever team you're on!
Seattle's postseason hopes got dashed by a team who both teams have zero idea what hotels, local transportation, and restaurants they're going to be utilizing next year.
Playoffstatus.com seems to like the Dodgers.
