MLB 2024 Season - October is Upon Us

This may be my favorite at bat of the season

What the hell got into the White Sox tonight? 8-4 win on the road, started with a 7-1 lead, never in doubt.

What is it with Mariners announcers and astonishing prescience?

That is hilarious!

I miss Dave Neihaus. He got me through a whole lot of miserable games played by miserable teams. I had a tougher time when he passed than the passing of several family members.

With this clip specifically, I love the ‘I’ve never been so excited for a 3-1 count in my life’.

The difference between 50/50 and 49/52 is... really, nothing. But he's still gonna do it and it's insane.

Like, even factoring in that stealing is easier now, this is absurd.

EDIT: Oh for f*ck's sake. 49.

50/50.

LOL, didn't even wait until the weekend.

Good thing I had ESPN+ and got to see it live.

I think Ohtani just broke baseball

Why not 6 for 6?

Still time for 60/60.

6-6, 3 HRs, 10 RBIs.

51 homers, 51 steals.

He's 2 HRs behind Judge for the MLB lead, btw.

IT'd require a historic late surge... but 60/60 isn't totally impossible.

So... Let him pitch?

Just imagine a 50 HR 50 SB 200K season.

“If I’m being honest,” Ohtani said through interpreter Will Ireton, “it was something I wanted to get over as soon as possible.”

Oh he almost hit for a cycle too, getting thrown out at third trying to stretch a double.

I genuinely think, that if Shohei comes back next year, and is even close to this, and is better than average as a pitcher... not even Cy Young good, just "better than average," if he doesn't play another game he should be a first ballot HoFer.

The only more remarkable player I've ever seen in my lifetime is PEAK Barry Bonds.

Time to relegate them down a league.

The stats coming out about Shohei's day are just enthralling. I think my favorite one is in the history of baseball, exactly two people have hit 50 homers, and stolen 50 bases in a season, over the course of their entire career.

No-one had done it in a single season. No-one else was even close.

Until Shohei.

Players have gone 6-6 before. Players have had 5 XBH before. Players have hit 3 HRs in a game before. Players have stolen 2 SB in a game before. Players have had 10 RBIs in a game before.

No-one else has ever done it in a single game. Ever. Ever.

I've thought about it, and I think he definitely is. If Sandy Koufax is in (and Sandy absolutely should be in), then Shohei should be in for what's done already, and that's before we consider his global impact.

Come on.

Seriously. F*ck off. You literally couldn't write this.
