MLB 2024 Season - October is Upon Us

Shohei Ohtani's reps decline to say which authorities contacted to report theft

I feel bad for the MLB at least, because this willl be the main storyline through opening day, and at least into May, whether they like it or not.

they need to throw in some juiced balls or fix it so someone goes on 40+ game hitting streak IMMEDIATELY.

Sources: Dodgers, Will Smith close to 10-year, $140M deal

I don't think I've spent this much in OOTP, and I regularly cheat in that game.

MLB shouldn't wait. no questions asked, tonight, introduce the Rockies Rule. if a divisional opponent bats around twice in one inning on opening day after your worst season record ever, team ownership is immediately forfeit and the franchise is put up for auction

FINAL: The Angels lose 11-3 to the Orioles on Opening Day.

It was about as ugly as possible. The Angels recorded two hits, and struck out 14 times. Mike Trout homered.

Patrick Sandoval went just 1 2/3 innings. The bullpen wasn't much better.

The Angels are 0-1.

Baseball is back everyone!

My initial reaction after seeing that Angels box score last night was that the Angels are by far the worst team in the league, but then the entirety of the American League Central asked me to hold their beers so I'm not so sure anymore.

The Oakland A's are going to give that title a run too.

Fun fact: The NY Mets are currently paying Francisco Lindor more than the ENTIRE ACTIVE ROSTER of the Oakland A's.

Again, the Rockies exist.

Honestly, replace them with the Savannah Bananas.

Silver lining: the Rockies threw 6 innings of scoreless, 3-hit ball.

By that point, the Backs were already boarding the team bus.

Look up DS!

Oh I didn’t see the tweet itself so I didn’t notice it. It’s so funny. I think she’s right. How does that happen?

Oh this guy on twitter... had a 200k $5 home run bet yesterday. 7 players parlayed together. 6 hit. He was waiting on Mookie Betts in the Dodgers game last night, and asked if he should cash out.

Spoiler:

Lots of people told him to take the 12k and run, maybe throw 2k of it back on Mookie for fun. A few told him to hold out.

Then there was a rain delay. He took 4k cash out because really $5 into thousands is a great day.

But then after the rain... Mookie hit. He would have had 200k.

I have no idea how WAR is calculated, but I believe that after the first four games of the season, Soto's WAR is 4.

They’re so terrible.

Did Starboard Alonzo forget to wear pants today?

I refuse to believe whatever “Statcast” says, Trout sent this shit at least 843 feet

Headline only, because it says more than enough:

Mistake-prone A’s make 5 errors in 1st 3 innings against the Red Sox

can the A's play the Rockies in a winner take all relegation deathmatch? Best of 99, played back to back.

Saw pointed out today that Mike Trout's been a regular starter since 2012, been considered one of the best players in the league since then, and in terms of counting stats, dude is nowhere near deserving of a HoF bid.

With the ways the game is changing, especially for pitchers, I wonder if we'll see the considerations for the HoF change in another decade or so. Especially for pitchers. There are exactly 3 active pitchers with 200+ wins, and no-one else is even remotely close.

Bryce Harper hit 3 HRs tonight.

Third one was a slam, too.

Who wants to take odds on them staying in Sacramento instead of moving to Vegas?

Will they be the Vegas A's, the Sacramento A's, or the Oakland A's in the interim?

And if I were on the team, Leaving the Bay Area being promised Vegas and GETTING Sacremento seems like a massive downgrade.

The new uniforms are so bad, they've radicalized Brandon Nimmo:

A major league baseball park, soon.
