NFL 2023: The Week 6 thread

Deshaun Watson won’t play this week, so the Browns will be led by the mighty PJ Walker when facing the Niners on Sunday.

#RIP PJ. The Niners are going to kill him.

If past is prologue, he'll make a couple of plays that'll make you go HOLY FORKING SHIRTBALLS HE'S GOOD. And then he'll make four play that'll make you question why anyone's paying him to play professional football.

Jones is out, it's Taylor time! And whenever you are playing against a Giants team with a Taylor on it, you know it's going to be trouble.

I don't think we will see Watson again until they play the Bears. He's trying to get past all the teams with pass rushers.

Maybe he’s a scuba diver? He and Bosa roommates?

Deshaun Watson has been diagnosed with a right rotator cuff contusion, and may miss multiple additional games beyond this week.

The Browns have paid Watson approximately $59 million so far, and what they've gotten in return is 9 games, a 5-4 record in those games, 11 TDs to 7 INTs, an 82.4 passer rating, and 198 passing yards per game. Roughly speaking, that would put him in the ballpark of 2022 Taylor Heinicke, Andy Dalton, and Marcus Mariota.

Makes the Baker resurgence even that much sweeter.

101.5 passer rating, 7 TDs to 2 INTs, 220.5 yards per game, and a 3-1 record. Absolutely blowing away Deshaun.

Funny part is, look at that last season of Baker in Cleveland: 83.1 passer rating, 17 TDs to 13 INTs, 215 yards per game. Deshaun's numbers are almost a carbon copy of the "bad" version of Baker that they thought they had to get rid of. They sold their soul to get the exact level of output they already had.

Baker also the only GameDay picker to correctly choose Louisville over Notre Dame last Saturday. He's doing a lot of things right these days

MOAR GOOD BAKER TALK YES MOAR MOAR MOAR

Colts are reportedly in trade talks for Jerry Jeudy. They weren’t in my Top 5, so that’s rude of them.

I guess they’re dissatisfied with what they’re getting out of Alec Pierce? Pittman and Josh Downs seem to be getting it done.

I think you me that it's reudy of them.

Good to see a team supporting their rookie QB by getting them some talent. Bravo, Colts!

Meanwhile in Charlotte, the Panthers seem willing to trade most of their starters.

Well, to be fair, the Panthers traded away their best offensive weapon and a lot of draft capital for a QB who is getting the crap kicked out of him, so basically shrugging and blowing it all up is 100% a smart move because at minimum you maybe want to keep Bryce Young alive for a couple years.

I think it's safe to say trading D.J. Moore has had some negative impacts, so, well, if you can dump a few assets to get into better position to replace that, why the hell not?

Step 1: get all the starters out of the way

Step 2: All balls go to Viska

Step 3: Drown in wins

One of the Panthers beat writers tweeted that TE Ian Thomas is going on IR, so maybe TE Hayden Hurst (one of 3-4 guys expected to cushion the blow of losing DJ Moore) would get some more balls thrown his way.

In five games, Ian Thomas has exactly four targets. I'm beginning to think that maybe the Panthers' struggles are not entirely the fault of the players.

Or maybe it is. Here is Thomas' lone target in the Vikings game. Thomas is the guy in the end zone who takes a dart from Bryce Young off his facemask.

PS: Viska needs to step up Sunday. Miles Sanders is hurt (again), so there will be a few more chances in the first quarter for Viska to get some rushing attempts before the Dolphins go up 21-3 and Carolina's offense devolves into BY taking 12-step drops and then running for his life.

Hearing the “Oh” cheer in n London was glorious.

Refball

That’s a terrible PI. Defender is waiting for the ball and Hopkins runs into the defender and it’s defensive pass interference?

The ravens have gotten pretty consistently screwed by Refball all year

London FG Fest

How many more gift flags will the titans get?

Finally a TD.
2 point success but offensive PI
XP blocked

ugh

Titans, thanks for the three.

Refs gift Titans 3 but refrain from giving them 7. Interesting

Here we go, throwing passes on 2nd down with a 2 score lead, trying to give the game away instead of just running and killing some clock.

Bateman gave up on that route

Win probability was 94.6% a few minutes ago. Down to 71 now.

Yay defense. Interception Ravens. Now maybe a long drive would be good...
