NFL 2023: The Week 5 thread

Ravens and Steelers should both get an L for this game.

Ohhhhh Lamar.

Edit: Steelers tried to give it away by getting an illegal formation penalty on a kneeldown, which I don't think I've ever seen before, but Steelers pull it out.

I want to insert that animated emoji that is a nodding face. But I can't remember how.

I'm a Giants fan, but man, they suck eggs LOL.

And somehow that’s not even the worst “you should have lost “ sequence for them.

5 1/2 minutes left in the game, down 10-8, force a punt, fumble the punt when a teammate runs into the returner, Ravens recover and take over 1st and goal from the 7.

Then Lamar throws an INT in the endzone on the worst endzone fade throw.

Yeah I didn't need to see the end of Ravens game in full HD. Damn.

But the drops all day... Ravens should have been up 2 or 3 TDs and none of that last 5 minutes should have happened. Good grief

Glad I went apple picking with the dogs instead

Anytime KC seems to be struggling the camera manages to find Matt Nagy and it all makes sense.

I decided not to watch my team today. I refuse to be held hostage to this notion that to be a true fan you have to suffer through the bad parts.

So I decided to tune into the end of the first half of Pats-Saints and ... PS, you don't have to watch, either.

This is funny because the other day I was thinking about this:

* The Patriots O-line is a complete sh!tshow
* The WRs aren't open (and the TEs aren't involved in the passing game; the RBs get a bunch of screens and dumpoffs)
* The play-calling is vanilla and predictable
* Mac is sometimes struggling to find open guys

FTFY

Having hope is the worst part of it all. With Belichick, there's always the expectation that he'll figure it out. This year he's coaching like a guy who's going to retire during the bye week. Just baffling.

Nobody can put this loss on Lamar. All these drops, points left on the field.

Travis Kelce goes down with a non-contact injury before halftime; I felt a great disturbance in the force as a million voices made the same "Shake It Off" joke.

I wish him a Swift recovery.

Devonta Smith being mopey about not getting targets, a couple weeks after AJ Brown threw a sideline fit of his own for the same thing.

Good job guys.

I’m trying to figure out the sequence on 4th down in the KC vs Minn game. Cousins arm was hit so it’s clear the ball wasn’t tipped…Minn WR is clearly grabbed in end zone and multiple flags get thrown. KC DB then proceeds to remove his helmet in the field of play. Refs discuss and decide to pick up the PI flags and it results in a turnover on downs.

Every week guys??

I believe it was correctly waived off because when Cousins was hit the ball went off to the side, and it was uncatchable. Genuinely don't have an issue with that call.

Considering his kid is in charge of the D the priority of drafting talent, on that side of the ball, isn't surprising. The O-line sucks, like half of the league, and Mac isn't nearly good enough to compensate. For the realists there is no hope

Dallas didn’t stop the 49ers on one single play that opening drive. Every play gained at least 4 yards.

I agree with this part but then the ref low key telling Sneed to put his helmet back on because it's a penalty was funny.

Should that even be a penalty, dunno. But it is so the no call there was giving KC a break.

Yep we but I'm pretty sure that penalty would have been assessed on the Chiefs after they had possession, at it had happened after the play was dead. Wouldn't have really mattered.

Ball bounced a couple feet from the WR and the ref didn’t say it was uncatchable so….

Dak banged his finger?

PUT IN TREY LANCE

Do you actually want the Trey Lance revenge game?

Dak Cousins 2.0 + Mike McCarthy flame out game is pretty tasty as is.

When the going gets tough… Dak throws a prayer ball to the safety.

EDIT: When the going gets tough… Dak throws a slant to a guy completely blanketed and gets intercepted.

EDIT 2: When the going gets tough… Dak throws to another blanketed slant route and gets intercepted again.

Woah woah woah slow down.

You are going to get McCarthy fired at this rate.

This is where Dallas always belongs, 32 points behind the Niners.

I'm having a damn good fall (see NCAA thread) so far. Stay healthy and keep winning.

My favorite highlight today was "Coach" Payton yelling at Russ for fumbling the game away at the end.

Good job telling him he screwed up.

Leader Guy!

There are Cowboy and Broncos fans at this wedding, too.

It begins…

Niners are basically the 2007 Patriots. Just miles ahead of every other team. Its likely something like another helmet catch will be needed or they go 20-0
