NFL 2023: The Week 2 thread

Two games where I have nobody to root for, but given the Saints and Watson, I've got plenty to root against. Go Panthers and Steelers!

Carl Granderson? I thought he was a fourth liner for the Kings.

LOL Watson pick six on the first play.

The last time that happened, the QB was... *checks notes*... HEYDARNOLD.

JT O'Sullivan, murdering Justin Fields for two weeks in a row.

Carolina would be doing better if they got the ball to Viska more.

Well that’s Chubb done for the season

The Steelers have no offense

Having a hard time deciding whether I want to watch the Thursday Night Football game masquerading as Monday Night Football or the other Thursday Night Football game masquerading as Monday Night Football.

The one without the rapist QB.

If only the Chubb injury happened to the player that deserved it.

$12 million free agent vs. guy that was activated from the practice squad yesterday, aka why RBs can’t get paid:

Pickett throws a touchdown to Pickens. Pickett may have lost an arm in the process.

“It’s Saquon Barkley vs Christian McCaffrey on Thursday Night Football!”

Oops, someone didn’t update the ad spot in time.

Be sure to read Schefty's social media posts about Chubb all the way through.

Bryce Young made a defender look foolish by cutting back inside rather than sliding.

I hope he realizes that he might have signed his own death warrant by putting that on tape. The next defender isn’t going to assume a slide.

Reminded me of this.

Also, this has to be one of the most gruesome injuries that I've ever seen.

I'm happy I didn't catch it live and that they were smart enough to not show the replay.

The crowd reaction to the stadium replay was good enough for me to know I don't want to see it.

Replays of Chubb's injury are available all over the place; I will not be watching any of them. Saw that it's not being replayed in the stadium, but the one time they showed it the crowd gasped audibly.

Same knee he destroyed in college.

Yeah, don't. I watched it by accident because it randomly showed up on my Twitter feed and I wish I could unsee it.

I saw the injury replay. It’s not quite as bad as Napoleon McCallum, but the first thing I thought of was Napoleon McCallum.

I saw that live, and I still remember it. I yelled and fell off the couch it was so disgusting. Thinking avoid the Chubb video is a choice I'll make.

Did not Theismann suffer, ye, even unto Monday Night Football broadcast history, that he be the SOLE reference for gruesome primetime injuries in tackle football from 1985 until the heat death of the universe?

I can’t remember the last time I saw a quarterback flagged for grabbing a facemask, and tonight I’ve seen Watson called for it twice.

Watson fumble scoop and score. Good times.

I want the Browns to lose… but if they scored 10 points, we’d have scorigami with 32-26.

In all fairness, the Browns still have to play in Week 2.

As much as I would like my Ravens to be alone at the top of the North, there is no way they are going to drop one to the Steelers.

Both of those games were like Thursday night games only worse. The Browns Steelers one was like virgins f*ck. Pickett looks like a fastball pitcher that couldn't hit the strike zone if you painted it on his crotch. Watson gave up more points to the Steeler defense than their offense scored.

This was supposed to be the good division. As it is, it looks like the Cardinals might have some competition on the race to the bottom.

Woke up to TicToc showing me the Chubb injury. If you haven't seen the play, do yourself a favor and don't. I don't know how he comes back this year, and how he is ever the same player as he was before the injury.

I mean, I can't imagine what the Browns did to deserve this karma...

Or both defenses might just be good and the 49ers O is stacked.

Not going to defend Pickett but yesterday was a rock fight.

I think the only thing each team managed to do was eliminate each other from contention. AFC North is a meat grinder this year.

I expected Carolina to stumble out of the gate this season. New rookie QB. New coaching staff. All that.

But to imagine the team stepping on rakes versus seeing the rake-stepping play out in real time ...

Five internet points for anyone who can find me a GIF of Tiny BY trying to take a shotgun snap from the right guard.

Also, Shaq Thompson might have broken his ankle / his leg / some other important body part. It's very quickly shaping up to be One of Those Years.
