Great discussion on fandoms and the dynamics that can make them toxic or supportive. Really good points from all panel members, which expanded my understanding. I wish I had a smart point to add, but will just say thank you instead.

Also, would love to hear more about the plight of the black nerd!

I've checked this site occasionally, but this was the thing that convinced me to create an account and visit more often. I feel like I hear so much meaningless arguing online about finger-quotes "toxic fandom," and I really appreciated this nuanced dive into how to keep communities healthy.

We’ve got a great community here and on our discord DragoonBoots - thank you for the kind words and very glad you are here!

Enjoyed the commentary about fandoms. Reminds me of a you tube video essay by J.T. Sexkik...

They talk about how fandoms are perceived, how it had effected, (affected?) them personally, and they touch on some points that I really took to heart. Changed my perspective on how I was interacting with some of my own personal fandoms.... and life in general.

It's a 5 year old video and the last one posted, right as they started to get popular after a couple of videos went viral. A lot of people here may even has seen his 'Am i Pregante?' video... he retired from his you tube career shortly after that.

I think it's well worth the watch for a ~20min video if you have the time and want another perspective on fandoms.
