NBA 2023-24 Season Catch-All

Ugh. It's so dumb, because it still plays a good game of ball!

My Knicks beat the Hawks 119-106 last night in an entertaining game where their entire offense went through Trae, and when he briefly went cold in the 3rd/4th, we went on a run and put the game out of reach. And it felt great!

If anything, NBA 2K's Franchise mode could afford to have a little less granular detail to it. Like, player training. That's so very nice they give you such a huge number of options, but also, let me just assign all of that to my S&C coaches and ignore it, please.

It's just so silly that, for so many of these games these days, I genuinely feel that they are best enjoyed by engaging as little as possible with all the online/MyPlayer content.

I agree. It is because they are cynically designed to get you to spend more money, instead of primarily designed to make the game better.

And the awful thing about it is, on the business side, I can't blame them.

Like, NBA 2K is overwhelmingly negatively reviewed on Steam right now (and probably anywhere else), but I'll bet if you look at the sales and how much they made on microtransactions last year and already since release, from a cold, soulless business perspective, it makes sense.

And again, it's extra frustrating because, in single-player, at least, with a good set of sliders it plays a really good game of basketball!

What gets me is the yearly price too. Like let's just call it NBA 2k and release a roster DLC every Oct. Stop charging new game on top of the micro sh*t

LOL.

Welcome back Ja. If someone could please get him into Paramore and away from NBA Youngboy, that'd be great.

"Sell the team" chants in Detroit after loss #25 in a row.

I feel bad for the players, because this is the kind of thing that can seriously impact players long term. Like, it's one thing to lose 5 in a row, or 10, but I genuinely think this is detrimental to players' careers.

Utah was on a back to back with 8 players out injured. Tonight was unreal

A funny riff on the meme that Kawhi doesn’t like playing basketball.

The Pistons sets the record for consecutive losses at 27. This feels hysterical when contrasted with the Lions' getting back to the NFL postseason after 30 years.

Does OKC really host a public christian prayer before each home game? What is this, the 1800s?

Celtics are next, so let's just say they've already tied the overall consecutive loss record set by the 76ers across 2 seasons.

It really is sad. The Pistons are front page of ESPN.com right now, and they assuredly do not want to be.

Cade Cunningham in his last 5 games:

31.8 PPG
6.8 APG
4.8 RPG
1.4 SPG
66% TS
58% FG
41% 3PT

please get him some help.

Friends...

So no one told them that life was gonna be this way.

Its like you're always stuck in second gear.

And it hasn't been the Pistons day, or week, or month, or even their year.

Pistons wins since February 12: 4

Grizzlies wins since Ja came back on December 19: 4

Detroit what are you doing

Rooting so hard for them rn

well, they got it to OT after a truly awful goaltending call.

and thus ends their streak at 27 losses*

Spoiler:

*in regulation

The +/- between the starters and the bench is... goodness:

Gonna be extra tough for the Pistons now, as everybody wants to avoid being THAT team.

66-47 at half and they still lost? Damn

It's just such a shame, this run doesnt just stick to the pistons, it sticks to these young guys, just a forever stain on a franchise, it's sad, I hope the guys on this team can find success in the future, they deserve something, something better than these pistons, it's sad and I hope it doesnt effect these guys too much

Woj bomb.

OG + Precious for RJ and Quickley.

Strange one for the Knicks IMO. I feel like they could of got someone better then OG with that same base package + picks.

Plus Flynn going to the Knicks and Detroit’s 2024 2nd (so 31st overall) going to the Raptors. Feels like a big overpay and I love OG.

I guess if you want to be generous to the Knicks they got the best right now player + it helps clean up their lineup and rotation.

But even then to elevate them to what? Second round playoff exit?

Other rumor that was floated was that the Raptors should of tried to get Kuminga from GS. Probably higher ceiling than RJ but still like it for the Raptors.

Quickley could stay or maybe flip him to a playoff team for more assets.
