NBA 2023-24 Season Catch-All

Ted Cruz, The Third.

Either that is a really bad picture or that dude must be doing some hard living to look like that at only 27.

Good that the leagues are really working with YouTubers to raise their profile.

And my God, that second Danny Green three is where I'd be like "we're gonna get f*cked, and there's nothing we can do about it."

No, Dillon Brooks, you are not "Dillon the Villain."

You are, at best, "Dillon the annoying henchman employed by the villain who talks like he's a big threat but super-duper isn't."

Maybe so, but he shouldn't have been ejected for that play. Seemed pretty clear unintentional incidental contact.

God, I hope he can just stay healthy. That is my only concern with him (tbf, it's an enormous one).

Just. Stay. Healthy.

He has definitely had some highlights already. The biggest 'easy' thing I see for him to fix is to stop taking those jump shots 1-2 ft inside the line.

The WNBA product is so good. Shame it’s a bit slept on.

The biggest shame is the pay situation of course.

Real-life Monstar.

Meanwhile, Becky Hammon has the kind of energy I like.

Opening night tomorrow!

Season hasn't started and we already have the meme that'll carry us through the whole thing:

Anyone have any good leads on promotions for league pass?

I'm past the age and patience to juggle suspect services.

Looks like in Canada I can get it for $120 CAD for the season which seems pretty reasonable.

Edit:

Answering my own question FanDuel has a promotion where you place a bet and you get 3 months for free. Going to go that route as I'm pretty sure they periodically have other promotions later in the year also.

Mine auto-renewed for $99 US before I could look around for a deal. : / I still need to put a reminder on my calendar for next year...

The Nuggets championship ring is pretty nice looking, as far as championship rings go. I mean gaudy as always, but an actual design that has colors and looks good.

Apparently the fan duel promo is available if you already have a sub. Not sure about annual though and the hoops you might have to jump through to get a credit on that.

I wish I could just pay Silver one fee for one app that gets me every game across the full season.

But no.

ETA: What is going on with Dwight Howard?

Also, NBA League Pass will be worth it this year purely for the Wizards, who are going to score 120 points a game and give up 140.

When you shake off Dillon Brooks twice to make a 3.

Love living in a world where "The official Timberwolves account just quoted furry vore" is a thing that can be said.

Harden to the Clippers for a bunch of old guys and some draft equity.

I don’t think the Clippers will win the championship but if they do I will be certain there are no basketball gods. Or just evil ones.

Can both teams lose a trade?

Not sure if the Clippers gave up much but that mix of players is a mess. I'm sure some people will say 'but....' I'll believe all those guys are healthy and the lineups work in April when it happens.

76ers I guess got back pieces to do something else later but until that next move happens they are not winning the East.

Random aside.

Was at the Raptors game last night and they looked real bad vs a Portland team that was a 10 point dog.

Scoot had some flashes but he also looked very much 19. I think we forget sometimes the leap rookies are going through.

Not sure if Ayton will stick in Portland or is just future trade bait. I looked up at the box score as the Raptors were bricking shots late in the 4th and was like o wow. Ayton has 22 Rebs. He finished with 23 in a game where he just did his thing. Not overly flashy but efficient.

He can help a playoff team now so it will be interesting to see where he lands.

Notably I read a piece this morning that indicated all of those players the Sixers got were on expiring contracts. So I think the reason those players were in the trade was to match salaries and pave the runway for another trade by the Sixers. If that's the case they by no means lost the trade, but they're getting diminishing returns for what started as a centerpiece of The Process (Ben Simmons).

They just traded for Phase 1 Loki.

What could possibli go wrong?

That's a whole lotta dudes who like the ball, and there's only one ball.

I ain't saying they can't make it work but... are any of them okay with being Chris Bosh? And that was three dudes.

Like, this lineup is gonna be GREAT in NBA 2K.

I don't know about you guys, but I don't think I will really want to watch a game that is on a bright yellow or orange court. New courts for the in season tournament games and a lot of them are pretty ugly. I'll reserve judgement until I see the games, maybe it is more muted in real life, but if it is like this it seems like it will just be distracting.

Two happiest days of a NBA fan's life are when their team trades for James Harden, and when their team trades away James Harden
