Looks like it's finally Freedom Day for Harry Kane.

While Caicedo is undoubtedly a good signing for Liverpool and an distinct upgrade on Lavia, there are going to be a lot of questions about why that money - £111 million by all accounts - wasn’t spent on Bellingham.

Clearly it’s the sale of Henderson and Fabinho that’s has the impact here and I wonder if they’ll see the likes of Thiago depart too now to cover the addition expenditure.

Still, on balance, I do now think a Liverpool’s dealings this transfer window have gone from pretty good to very good. Still need a defender - or two - though.

Was fully expecting Japan to wipe the floor with Sweden. Very, very surprised right now.

Plot twist.

He's told Liverpool he only wants to sign for Chelsea.

Why? I assume money and that can be bridged but not the best look for both sides.

I think Sweden played their best game so far, but given the way Japan has played so far and the late penalty miss you have to think there's going to be lots of regrets from Japan when the tournament is over.

We're guaranteed to have a new name on the trophy now though, so that's cool.

Only if Chelsea stump the cash, which from the sounds of it even they are bulking at a little. Caicedo has by all accounts already left Brighton in all but name. Not terribly professional for sure, and I’m pretty sure he’ll go to Liverpool if Chelsea pull out.

Bit of a mess to be honest, but FSG have made a rod for their own back with that price. They’ll have to spend at least that now on new players total, and I still think Liverpool need a centre back and right back if Alexander-Arnold is going to play midfield.

Ouch. Two crossbars for Japan. Just watched the highlights.

Now the Tyler Adams Chelsea deal might be off because Chelsea is concentrating on Caicedo.

Good to know Chelsea is still dysfunctional as ever.

Can't look good for agents players that Chelsea will go as far as having a medical with you but then change their minds.

Haaland scores after 3 minutes, normal service is resumed. Who do we all fancy for 2nd?

For f*ck's sake. Honestly.

Just glad I made Haaland my Fantasy Football captain this week!

Oh, wait. I didn't.

f*ck.

Watching Spurs fans online attempt to straight-facedly argue that Kane is showing "no ambition" by moving to Bayern and that the FA Cup and EFL Cup are more prestigious trophies than the Bundesliga.

Like, the Bundesliga has problems, but this is the most down-bad delusion I've ever seen.

Also, the Burnley we know may be gone on the pitch, but off the pitch, they're back.

Oh and RE: United and the latest Mason Greenwood news....

Nah they knew exactly what they were doing. If he comes back, it’s that the women said yes. If he doesn’t, then it’s the women who get the blame for blocking it. They’re cowards who threw their women’s team under the bus for the sake of an abuser.

For some reason I thought Arsenal game was delayed to properly accommodate the women's WC game....

There are 35,000 fans outside the Emirates
Arsenal have introduced a new e-ticketing system for this season and it appears to be on the blink! Over 35,000 fans are still outside the ground and kick-off has been delayed by at least half an hour as Arsenal’s IT Department turn their new technology off and then on again.

Lol.

Solid without dominating from England this morning. The goal they conceded reminded me of the one that looped off Paul Parker and over Shilton in the 1990 World Cup semi-final and I wonder if the game would have been different had Colombia made it to half time without almost-literally throwing away their lead.

Given the dearth of goals from England's front line since about February, having both Hemp and Russo score is promising, but Toone and Kelly both look very out of form and England don't really have anything else for that #10 role with James suspended.

If England are going to persist with this 3-5-2/3-4-1-2 then I'd almost be tempted to put Stanway in the 10 role and bring in someone else to play that pivot role alongside Walsh. Zelem played well alongside Stanway against China, but Zelem and Walsh as pivots would be too defensive.

Australia already beat England this year, in England, so with the way they're playing and the crowd energy this is going to be very tough.

Longest WC shootout in history and Australia survived. Just saw the highlights

Caught the last few minutes of England moving on.

Valid goal improperly ruled out.

Missed enough chances that we should have won in spite of that - in fairness, there’s no way that our board could have realized that we needed to sign someone who could finish.

Our board has neglected to replace goals in the squad for ages now (since at least Lukaku).

If Dyche keeps us up again in spite of our incompetent ownership he deserves a statue at the new stadium, IMO.

Seems certain Leeds players have decided, that despite been a load of crap and getting us relegated, they are too good for the Championship. Part of me really just wants Leeds to let Gnoto rot now since he is tied to a 5 year contract. Not sure Everton should be excited about getting him since he will then just do the same to them if they go down.
God how far we have fallen in such a short time.
Also whats with all this "players have agreed terms with a team" when the team they are employed by have not given that team the go ahead to talk to them?

Ordinarily, I hate people who say this because I think player quality is only part of what goes into a player's price....

...but Caicedo isn't worth that much.

Also, thankyew for the three points Everton.

Caicedo isn’t worth that much, but he is to two teams that need a proven, Premier League experienced and quality Defensive midfielder. He’s worth that much to both teams.

It’s a slightly different thing.

I'm no Kane hater, but losing the German Super Cup 3-0 is hilarious.

Very happy with how Queen’s Park played, highlights available on YouTube for all you international spiders fans this looks like an exhausting season if your a spurs fan, it is how Anj plays football though so get used to it!

Toldja Chelsea's gonna be way, way better this year.

MEanwhile:

We're gonna do this bullsh*t all over again next summer.

Also, i'm sure this had nothing to do with PSG drawing 0-0 with Lorient.

EDIT: Neymar, unsurprisingly, to the Saudi league.

Now Everton are signing Harrison on loan! They do realise these players got us relegated last season right?

Neymar to Saudi Arabia.

Edit: Pred beat me to it!

Strange career for him IMO. Obviously a very talented player but I just feel like he was completely overshadowed by Ronaldo and Messi. Mbappe has enough separation in age that he's clearly the next generation mega star.

Not sure who will be next for the Saudi League to gobble up. Neymar was really the last huge name with a cloudy future. We might be done.... For this window.

All those signings and this still seems more interesting to me.

Would have been funnier if he'd won a trophy in his very first game away from Spurs.

Fantastic troll job by Chelsea, IMO.

Lavia, Fernandez, Caicedo. LFC?

A large helping of salt and all, however....

Some of the perks Neymar will experience because of his move to Saudi Arabia:

A private plane at his disposal
A huge house with staff
€80,000 bonus for every Al-Hilal win
€500,000 for every post or story he puts on his social media that promotes Saudi Arabia

We did sign Gueye from Aston Villa back in 2016 when they went down, and he's been important enough to our squad that he's still a starter (even now, returning after his stint with PSG).

I didn't watch a ton of Leeds last season, but my impression is that Harrison (and Gnoto, who we keep being linked to) were not the major culprits in your going down.

That said, we need a midfielder who can successfully pass the ball and get our transition into the attacking third going (and even Harrison's lower-than-usual return of five goals last season would have had him tied as our second-highest scorer last season).

We also need a striker who can score (and stay fit) - but that's been a longstanding issue for us and I'm less optimistic about that happening before this window closes.
