England prevails?

f*ckING COME ON!!!!

I believe the term is "limbs"?

Oh, so you do have a number 9?
You're making me support Spain in the final. Damn you for this!

So, while he hasn't gotten a trophy, Southgate is, like, unquestionably the most accomplished England manager outside of Ramsay now, right?

EDIT:

England vs Spain

The winner keeps Ibiza.

Everybody hates us, and we don’t care!

I have a soft spot for England, but if you ask me to be honest, I think they will get dogwalked on Sunday.

Spain win 4-1, but Olmo doesn't score and Kane taps in England's only goal to win the Golden Boot.

In other news Gregg Berhalter has been by fired USMNT.

Anyway, fire Gregg. Now. In the locker room.

It took nine days longer than it should've, but at least they made the right choice.

Please don't hire Steve Cherundolo.

Also completely baffled by all the comments online saying we need a USMNT manager to "develop" talent.

International managers haven't developed talent in 40 years+. We need them to put together a squad and system that works well for the limited windows they get to work with these players in.

And there is literally no chance we get Klopp.

Missing a word there.

Sacked?
Fired?
Executed?

Aha

Everyone is pretty much counting on Spain to win, so of course England will win.
Barry Glendenning from the Guardian football is completely distraught about this. An upcoming nightmare of epic proportions.

Is that... a good prize?

Copa game yesterday was a grind of fouls to say the least.

Didn't realize this happened after though.

Massive brawl breaks out as Uruguay players rush Colombian fans in stands after Copa América semifinal loss

Apparently the players were trying to protect their families in that section.

When they said Darwin was chaotic, I didn't realise they meant the range was from "misses a tap in" to "climbs into crowd and tries to throw chair at fans."

Plan A and plan B.

I'm actually over the England hate.

Would it be insufferable if they won? Ya but no more than say Italy.

If they win I hope it's Saka and Rice at the center. If it's a bore and they blunder their way to the win also that would be funny. English fans would not give a damn and football purists would be incensed.

It's also the Euro and not the WC.

I think my main take away from this tournament has been. There's a lack of outright world class strikers currently. This includes the COPA. VAR is still annoying even if you speed it up. Lamine Yamal is for real and that's great. We've had a bunch of hyped prospects recently but for a 16 year old to step into a top countries first 11 and prove he belongs is amazing for the sport. It's too bad he plays for Spain.

Arsene Wenger did warn us. Like eight years ago.

I think it was 2016 Wenger said training methods at European clubs and academies will lead to a glut of technical midfielders and no pure Strikers and because most talented youngsters end up in Europe it would be a world wide problem.

Hey, I am going to start pronouncing my name (hah mess) after Columbia's star James Rodriguez. That guy is amazing!

Speaking of Colombia, there was a brouhaha after last night's game, on the field and in the stands.

Also, I get it, the USMNT was obligated to at least call Klopp.

I also appreciate that Klopp let them know immediately: No.

Klopp, 57, has been consistent in saying that he wants to take 12 months off from management after spending nearly nine years with Liverpool. A source added to ESPN that Klopp may not manage again, and those concerns don't begin to address his likely hefty financial demands, which would be well into eight figures.

As an Everton fan I agree he is well suited to international football.

So the 3rd place playoff is Penis Ball vs Murderball - the Beeston derby - I hope Bielsa tears Canada apart.

The Killers pause their concert to watch the end of the England-Netherlands semi-final.

Big weekend of football this weekend. Away to Peterhead in the first round of the league cups weird league thing. Don’t know if anything else is on?

EDIT:

Feel like the Killers showing the football at a gig runs deeper than just great crowd work. It represents the band fully embracing the inescapable fact that - despite being Mormons from Las Vegas who sing about the faded dream of America - they are somehow spiritually English

I mean I love watching all those videos that have gone up quicker than UEFA can copy right strike them (seriously what happened on twitter) but also I can't but feel look at all those phones and think, for the love of god, just some times live in the moment people.

Prediction:

I am rooting for England, but I expect a repeat of the 2023 Women's World Cup Final (without the kissing and sexual harassment scandal).

Spain 2-0.

Bielsa just ripped CONMEBOL at a presser, criticizing the pitch, training ground and security failures.

Eight of the stadiums used for the Copa América are sites of the 2026 World Cup, and renovations have been planned allowing for the larger fields in two years. For the World Cup, FIFA usually takes control of the stadiums about a month in advance.

"They've said that the pitches are in perfect condition and all the lies they have said here, doing a press conference to say that the pitches are perfect and you see how the grass patches won't work. And they said the training facilities are perfect, but Bolivia couldn't train and I have pictures to prove that it's all lies, this is a plague of liars," Bielsa added.

"And then we speak -- even if I already said everything I promised myself I wouldn't say -- and there are threats. Scaloni spoke once, he dared to say that the union on the grass wasn't proper, which are all known mistakes.

"The Americans won't tell you, 'I'll give you a perfect pitch,'" Bielsa continued. "They'll tell you, 'I'll give you a pitch put together three days ago,' and the joints between grass patches don't fit together.

"Look for a play on yesterday's game inside the box and you'll see how the ball double-taps and it's because of that. And the training facilities were a disaster and Bolivia couldn't train but they said, 'It's fine, it's Bolivia.'

The US is really doing a bang-up job of this World Cup dress rehearsal, gotta say.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Lamine Yamal has been astonishing, but if you're good enough, you're good enough.

But Messi didn't play his first 40+ appearance season until he was 20.

Yamal played 50 games for Barca this season, plus internationals.

Like, I'm just so concerned we're burning these kids out now, and when he's barely playing due to ongoing issues at 23, 24, we'll all be like "I wonder what happened?"
