Nothing about last night changed my mind on this, even though I don't know if there's anything to fault him on in that game.
Really stings that the Swedish keeper, who made several heroic saves during regulation, made zero saves in the penalties.

VAR penalty and all but that was such an incredibly dull World Cup campaign by the USWNT. As much as the other teams are getting better, this was just plain bad. The kind of campaign that leads to an overhaul on all levels.
I wonder how much screaming there was at the FOX Sports HQ. I assume they'll be sending Lalas home imminently because he was a terrible analyst for the US, but he's got nada to offer for the rest of the teams.

Well, there is some upside to this.
Getting eliminated in a World Cup has to be so painful since it’s not as if you can remedy it the next year. You have to sit on the hurt for four years, not even knowing if you’ll be in the team for the next one. Such well-designed torture.

England dodged a bullet there. Very lucky.
Kelly smashed the penalty through Nnadozie, who got hands on it but couldn’t keep it out. Nnadozie lies on her back in tears. Kelly and Greenwood immediately go to console her, and Kelly waves the camera away, a lovely touch of humanity.
So much for a comfortable path to the semi-finals. England were outplayed by a brilliant Nigeria side, who created the best chances before and after Lauren James was sent off for stamping on Michelle Adozie. Sarina Wiegman made an important tactical adjustment, moving from 3-3-2-2 to 4-4-1, and England defended admirably in extra-time. They might have conceded a penalty when Lucy Bronze shoved Michelle Alozie from behind, but Jess Carter, Alex Greenwood and Millie Bright were immense – throughout the match, not just in extra-time.

Australia is 100% behind the Matildas after that performance against Denmark.
That was a real let-off for England today and you have to think James' red is going to be upgraded from a one match ban because it was genuine foul play, not just a bad tackle.
Given the way she was playing, tightly marking James whenever England have the ball was the most obvious next tactic for England's opposition, so if they hadn't worked on giving James tactics and movement patterns to break or exploit that plan then that's a real failure from Wiegman and her team.
Delighted and surprised to see Keira Walsh back, but with James out all of the need for creativity shifts back to her.
With Mead out and Russo, Toone and Kelly apparently all off form, England may have to penalty kick their way as far through the tournament as they can get.

So it's time for the Bad Predictions Amnesty.
Please tell me your most instinctive, baseless footballing prediction for 23-24.
You get a re-do at the end of the Jan window.
We look back at these at the end of the season.The goal of the Amnesty is not to be proven correct. (That is a fun bonus.)
The Amnesty is to purge yourself of that annoying footballing thought before a ball has been kicked.

1 - Luton will claim at least two scalps from the "Top 7" and still be dead-cert for relegation by February.
2 - We will see at least 3 games reach or surpass 110 total minutes thanks to the new stoppage time rules.
3 - Arsenal and Liverpool finish outside of the Top 4 (but Nunez has a 20+ goal season)
4 - Kane stays, has worst season of his career
5 - Brighton, inexplicably, continue to do the thing
