Famous Person Obituary Thread

I see we've moved on to 90s icons.

A Real One. For real:

That one hurts.

Agreed.

Spoilering because I couldn't care less and am not that bummed about it

Spoiler:

Lou Dobbs, 78

Phil Donahue Dead at 88: Longtime Talk Show Host Suffered ‘Long Illness’

I remember very clearly skipping over his show when I got home from school to get to stations that showed cartoons.

Whether he was ‘Sycho Sid,’ ‘Sid Vicious,’ or just ‘Sid,’ he was one of my favorites as a kid.

You almost can't tell the difference between the Phils:

James Darren, Teen Idol Actor in ‘Gidget,’ Singer and Director, Dies at 88. He'll always be to many of us Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's Vic Fontaine.

That Variety obituary is quite good. I didn't know joining the EGOT club was one of his accomplishments.

I AM REALLY GOING TO MISS HIM.

He was the voice of the confident man for someone like me growing up in the 80s and 90s. He is one of the folks I have been asking myself "this guy is going to die soon and it will be important." Also included in that is Bob Dylan and Michael Douglas.

Well shit.

I usually watch a tribute movie or two and it's going to be tough to choose... probably SW original trilogy, and Coming to America all 4 at least. Not sure if the kids are ready for the Lion King but maybe I will watch it anyway

f*ck. Truly one of a kind.

Dude. Field of Dreams. Come on.

My wife said do you really want to watch him die in the Lion King? And I said we could watch the Jack Ryan movies but he dies in those too. Sheesh

He doesn't die in Hunt for Red October!

I imagine somewhere he's reminding Sidney Poitier that Tahiti is not in Europe.

There's one movie I'll always remember him for shouting "NO!"

But he does get a bad ass funeral in Clear And Present Danger!

Here's one of my all-time favorite scenes.

I still like to tell the story how one of my bosses (also ex-mil) did this same wrist touch thing to get me to calm down in a business meeting.

Sad to learn that James Earl Jones died yesterday. He appeared to have lived a long full life and enjoyed a wonderful career.

But - thanks to his business savvy, Disney's money, and Respeecher's tech - we will always have his inimitable voice.

I bought a copy of 'Roots' a few months ago, thanks to an ongoing 50-somethings nostalgia trip that's taken in some strange destinations along the way. I think I'll finally open that box set this weekend.

He was a brilliant actor, but I love the times his personality shone through his roles:

The best bits start at 1:37.

Sneakers! Put it on the watch list

I just re-watched it last week. Such a fun movie with a great cast.

Setec Astronomy.
