You're not really a sports fan until you're excited to root for someone else's misery.
It just means more.
With this morning's news, I'm strangely excited to follow a certain West Coast alum's travels to the exotic locals of Clemson and Blacksburg.
Carl and I will meet in real life for a football game. Guaranteed at this point.
Welcome to the All Coast Conference my friend
College football is hilariously corrupt!!!

East Coast, West Coast and Gulf Coast (FSU).
What a weird thing to happen. The Cal/Stanford invite isn't the weirdest thing to happen. SMU?! I guess the conference figured that since Duke and Carolina are getting new sports buddies that Wake needed one as well.
I know ECU Fan must be raging that the ACC is raiding the AAC but not taking the Pirates.
The swing vote was evidently NC State. The 3 nays: Florida State, Clemson, and unsurprisingly... Mack Brown's UNC.
At this point, this is probably the least bad option we could have gotten. While the revenue is likely to be no better than what we were offered by the Pac-12, the UC Regents have already told UCLA that they will need to pony up for leaving Cal behind, and given the delta between B1G and ACC media revenues, the penalty should be the proposed maximum of $10M/year.
Too Early 2024 Predictions:
B1G Champ: USC
ACC CHamp: Cal
B12 Champ: Utah
and everyone still complaining that the P12 doesn't deserve an automatic bid.
It’s also obviously a better academic fit than joining the Mountain West. It’s just so depressing still, though. The PAC 10/12 had such a fun history and cohesive geographic and academic story to tell.

I do wonder if our 2024 scheduled game @Auburn is now on the chopping block. Big Game will be @Cal next year (i'm assuming that scheduling won't change) so our 4-5 other conference away games will all be in ACC (or SMU) country.
I would have to think the admins of the formerly-known-as-pac-12 schools would love to schedule some of those old games as new OOC games.

Fixed that for you

It does suck.. Cal took the best offer it could. While geographically MWC or whatever the 4 remaining schools could have cobbled together, would make sense, those TV revenues wouldn't come close to paying the bills at Cal.

If I go to Carolina/Louisville its to watch a Cal game.
You of course are welcome to come here to catch the Louisville / 49ers / Warriors trifecta.

Expensive but would be an awesome November trip if the schedules ever align.

I don't have any Cal gear, but I will happy go with you to Wake, UNC, NCSU, Duke, or even VaTech and cheer against those assholes.

By the way, the proper term for this penalty is now accepted to be #Calimony, and I'm here for all of it.

I heard Airplanes Cross Country.
Cards win! Brohm era is 1-0.
Gave up a 28-7 2nd quarter, looked awful. But got it rolling and shutout the 2nd half until a meaningless (unless you gamble) TD with a minute left.
Spoiler: The game was against Kent State
Haven't watched College Gameday in years, but what in the holy hell was that updated intro song?
Darius..... when the dolphins make me cry, indeed.
Colorado hanging tough. Good for Deon
3 point lead starting the 4th
Whoa Fresno St up on Purdue in the 4th with the ball
Power of college football.. resigned to listening to this game on AM radio.. then with 40 minutes to kickoff.. screw it, sign up for youtube tv free trial.
One of the only reasons I still subscribe to regular cable is because it comes with Pac-12 network... so I can watch like 3 football games and a handful of basketball games.. guess what I won't be needing next season.
Whoa Fresno St up on Purdue in the 4th with the ball
In their first post-Haener game, Fresno goes on the road to Purdue and shows once again who belongs in a Power 5 conference.

Deon did it. And his kid threw for 500+ yards. Wow.
So, the detractors going to walk it back now?
We avoid Colorado this year.. unfortunately we will be playing him when he goes back to Florida State after this season.
All right all right!
This game had disaster written all over it. Road game against a team who would love to beat a P5 opponent.. nearly 100 degree weather at KO.. the news about the ACC broke just yesterday morning.... Auburn at home next week...
I thought we would win but it would be a nailbiter.. typical Cal game.. and with it being a 1 score game at the half and our starting QB knocked out.. doom was all over this.
But somehow Cal puts it all together and wins it easily 58-21. Can't remember the last time we dropped 50 on anyone. I know its North Texas, but if you've learned anything about being forced to follow Cal via my posts here, you know nothing is guaranteed.
GO BEARS!
Can someone remind me.. does Cal just have to win the P12 to go to the Rose Bowl this year or do we actually have to make like the final 4 BCS?
My team barely survived against a team whose mascot is Scooby Doo
Oregon holds on to beat Portland State by a score of 81-7. I was a little worried when P-State marched down the field to make it 8-7, but Oregon was able to hold off the rally.
