NCAA Football 2023/2024 Season Catch All!

And FSU Jordan Travis out for the season. Don't watch the video if you haven't seen it yet. His leg clearly snaps below the knee. It was awful.

Hope he recovers.

Rain games are crazy. I think UW-OSU is going to come down to the wire.

Second this. Showed up for me on tick tock. Wish it hadn’t. Reminded me of Chubb, but somehow worse.

Ugh, that sucks so much for that kid. I hope he recovers quickly.

Meanwhile in the ACC:

Florida Gators.

Not exactly a thrilling day of football. After the Iowa miracle under 24 anyway.

Lots of blowouts in the later afternoon and evening games.

Hopefully tomorrow will be more competitive.

Big college football day!!! Arkansas State at Marshall with my Thundering Herd trying to be bowl eligible!

Spoiler:

And something something Ohio State at -ichigan

17-7 lead with 550 left in the 3rd. Kicked to UK's great returner and gave up a TD. Then proceeded to fumble twice, and throw a pick to end the game. Pissed it all away and lost by 7 in the last 21 minutes.

Go Cards... whatever.

Damn, sorry Stele.

Saw just a few minutes of the first half and your Cards looked like the better team, then saw the final score and was WTF? The TO bug is deadly.

If Mario Cristobal and Hugh Freeze are going to paid millions of dollars to lose games with their own stupidity, I'll happily do it for 150 grand.

I don't think that makes up for Kick Six, but if I'm a Bama fan, that feels FANTASTIC.

Stoops is a good choice for A&M, but the real winner here is his agent, who apparently is also the agent for Jimbo.

That man has gotten PAID.

Yeah his deal at UK is nuts. He's making top 10 or 12 money for 7 wins a year.

On the one hand, Stoops has half the 10 win seasons Kentucky has had since joining the SEC. They have 20 above .500 seasons since 1960. Stoops owns 6 of em'. I'd argue he's done a Sisyphean task better than anyone else.

On the other hand, he’s also had more 5 win seasons than 10 win seasons.

Sports: It's Fandom, for Men.

He's a master at scheduling MAC teams, beating Vandy and one Miss team, and that's enough for bowling. And he's never had a 10-win regular season. Just 2 after bowl wins.

Ah well, good riddance. Tired of his dirty players. Most penalized team in the SEC this season. Although 0 called today....

Is that sarcasm?

He's good for UK, but I've seen nothing that makes me think he should earn a better job. He's not a bad coach, but seems to have trouble hiring for the offense, which is not good for a defensively minded coach.

He consistently underperformed when expected to be good. See the last two years.

With A&M's resources, facilities, NIL, fan base, they should be able to get a bigger name. Maybe it's coaching being concerned at the pressure after the last two failures.

Hey this winning thing is kinda cool!

START THE STREAK! Maybe you'll be seeing Cal in the Jimmy Kimmel bowl @legion!

Cal is actually a 4.5 point favorite against stanfurd in The Big Game, and I'm assuming fUCLA, who we play in the final week of the season has already quit. Nothing would make me happier than keeping the Axe next week, and somehow beating fUCLA the following week in the last time Cal will ever see the inside of the stadium known as the Rose Bowl, mic dropping and just saying "yeah we own this place".

Mission Accomplished GO BEARS!!

Congrats carl. I didn't stay awake for it. But looks like you kicked ass.

Ok so now Stoops isn't going to A&M. Not sure who called it off.

Indiana fired Tom Allen. And apparently had to pay 20 million to do it. Who is writing these dumb contracts with buyouts? Like CEO golden parachutes, paying already rich dudes for failure. Makes no sense, especially from public universities.

I understood it from a "protect a school from a bigger school poaching our successful coach" but when did it turn into having to pay the buyouts yourself when the coach loses? Isn't losing punishment enough?

The increasing TV contracts gave the conferences and schools so much money they didn't know what to do with it all. Coaches benefited. Jimmy Sexton reps so many of these coaches he leverages his power to almost corner the market and force schools to deal.

Doesn't seem sustainable, especially with ESPN's business model starting to hit financial strain and them having to make concessions with the cable companies like the recent Spectrum deal. There in that weird spot where they can't offer straight to app full access without ticking off their cable partners, but the cable subscriptions are dying so their cable companies won't be able to pay them as much.

On top of that, donor bucks are now split between the universities and their NIL collectives.

I may be wrong, but I would think coaching deals and buyouts have to plateau soon.

That might just be their best short yet.

Guess who's back (in Arkansas)

Back again?

Spoiler:

BOBBY P'S BACK (as offensive coordinator)

TELL A FRIEND

The funniest coaching resume ever.

I thought we were dumb. But Arkansas saw what he did at Louisville and decided they needed a second run too? Crazy

I'd very much like the Dawgs just take care of business against Bama, but if disaster strikes, I'm also rooting for Stele's cards to knock off FSU.

After last week we just want to go to the Orange Bowl. 5 spots ahead of NCSU. But if we beat FSU it's ours. If we lose we should stay ahead of Wolfpack and we won at their place and will have one more win and the same losses. But I'd rather win. ACC playoff chances be damned
