I'm watching Quarterback as well, I'm 4 episodes in, and it's...
... it's OK!
Yeah, pretty much. Not particularly insightful. This is the only time in the calendar where this would be remotely worth anyone's time.
I'm amused at how we see from time to time that Jackson Mahomes is there, but the camera does its best to stay away from him.
Also, some of what Cousins does as part of his body and mind work away from team facilities... are about what I would expect from a real does-his-own-research guy like COVID Kirk.
I hated the part where we saw the Chiefs beating the Niners, and then turn around and watch the Falcons beat the Niners. The Niners only lost 4 games all season, yet we managed to squeeze two of them into the show in either the same episode, or back-to-back ones (can't remember if I hit Next Episode between them or not). This was much less fun to watch than when they destroyed the Cardinals twice on Hard Knocks In Season.
I'm not looking forward to watching the Chiefs play in the divisional round.
Who do you want to see on your TV a year from now?
Deshaun Watson
Russell Wilson
Sam Howell
I completely understand and, frankly, agree with Saquon's anger and the broader anger from RBs about how they're not getting paid anymore.
I also don't think the Giants should give him (or pretty much any RB) those kind of big-time deals. And definitely not one with his injury history.
Meanwhile, it appears that we're going to get a Season 2. Who do you want to see on your TV a year from now?
I keep seeing this question asked, and I am shocked at the answers, because even doing my best to set aside Niners fandom, I can't imagine making the #3 pick be anyone other than Brock Purdy.
A starting NFL QB, living off of a 7th rounder's salary, living with practice squad players as roommates.
I saw Brett Kollmann pick Bryce Young, and I'm like, there's a Bryce Young every year or two, sometimes a handful in one year. Bryce Young's got $24 million in his bank account already, he's set for life (if he's smart) before he takes a single snap. You don't see very many Brock Purdy's.
I think Paleo's #3 pick of Sam Howell is the only one that remotely belongs in the discussion. He's kind of a less extreme version of Purdy - slightly higher pick, playing on a team with lesser postseason ambitions, no injury to recover from, and didn't have that dramatic late season run. If not for Purdy, he'd probably be my pick, definitely more so than a nouveau riche top draft pick.

come on. You don't want to see the drama of Deshaun Watson or the utter bizarreness of Russell Wilson? That's quality television.

The NFL values running backs about as much as the MCU values background actors.
It certainly didn’t help that the league has made it point number one to increase passing.

I was just talking about the #3 spot, the least accomplished guy. The Mariota spot. Those other guys would be for the top 2 spots.
I would probably pass on Watson just because I don't think the drama he actually deserves would materialize. He's already flying under the radar.
Wilson is the perfect guy to be the next Cousins on the show.
Russ would end up simultaneously being insanely boring and creating some of the most amazing meme material ever.

Somebody do a wellness check on Dameshek.

There were a lot of news pieces yesterday promoting the Vikings throwback uniforms. Spoiler alert, they are purple with gold and white stripes on the arms. Just like their current uniforms except the stripes are probably in a slightly different order or something.
Throwback uniforms only makes sense for teams that have had different jerseys at some point in their history.
One downside to the SEA throwbacks is that NFL only allows 4 jerseys per team. The neon greens are staying (#1 in NFL sales?) but the wolf gray are out.
And those were the best overall unis out there.
I love the Seahawks throwbacks. Love the Bucs' creamsicle for just one game for fun, bring back the all-black Falcons uniforms, throw out some old-school Broncos, give me the blue and white Rams. Way better than Slightly Different Green Eagles or 49ers With Different Font.
or 49ers With Different Font.
Hey! Respect the dropshadow.
You know, if they're going to do throwback uniforms, everything about the uniform should be a throwback. Linebackers should have giant neck rolls. Running backs should wear cutoff jerseys that expose half of their stomach for some reason.

A wild Bryan Cox appears.
Owners approve the $60 billion sale of the Commanders. Meanwhile, Dan Snyder fined $60 million on his way out:
The league has announced that Snyder was fined $60 million as a result of the findings of Mary Jo White’s follow-up to the Beth Wilkinson investigation.White’s investigation corroborated the complaints made against Snyder by former employee Tiffani Johnston. Specifically, White accepted Johnston’s claim that Snyder, “without Ms. Johnston’s consent, put his hand on her thigh under a restaurant table at a work-related dinner.” White also confirmed the allegation that “Snyder pushed [Johnston] towards the back seat of his car in an effort to have her join him after the dinner.”
The investigation also determined the team, under Snyder, underreported revenues in order to avoid its obligation to share a portion of the visiting-team gate with the league. Basically, White found that the Commanders stole money from their partners.
“The conduct substantiated in Ms. White’s findings has no place in the NFL,” Commissioner Roger Goodell said. “We strive for workplaces that are safe, respectful and professional. What Ms. Johnston experienced is inappropriate and contrary to the NFL’s values.”
"But not too contrary for him to make ten times what we just fined him by selling the team."
Any of those dollars going to the person he put his hands on?
After yesterday in the US Congress, I misread one of the letters in that post.
Josh Harris says there’s a “pretty good chance” that they’re going to change the team name again. Good.
Jags' Maxen is first male American pro sports coach to come out as gay
LOL @ it being the strength coach. What a great choice, because the person in a football coaching staff I'd want to f*ck with the absolute least is the SC. Good for him.
I’m sure there’s some Florida law that makes it legal for the Jags to now fire him.
They're not allowed to talk about him.

Oh God, he's going to change it back.
