Welcome folks, and happy “127th Anniversary of the first Olympic marathon” week!

On April 10, 1896, at the inaugural Olympics in Athens, they ran the inaugural marathon. As the runners came into the stadium for the last laps, a Greek athlete, Spyridon Louis was winning. The Greek king, Constantine, was so overjoyed and proud that he climbed into the stadium and ran the last lap alongside him. You may all celebrate by playing a game where your helpers get in the way.

I’m posting from an iPad this week, as I’m on the road for family Easter holidays. So forgive me if my choices are a little more boomerish than usual.

Although the list is long this week, there’s no blockbuster new releases. They’re coming later in the month.

Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened is a remake of FrogWares’ 2006 game—the third one that put some Cthulhu into Baker St. As with most games containing Cthulhu, there’s a sanity meter that acts like a time limit on Sherlock’s investigation. The remake sees the whole game rebuilt in the Unreal Engine and the script and voice work also got an overhaul.

Farm Slider is a small puzzler about sliding tiles to make pictures of farms.

Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection is a port of the 2001 Game Boy spin-offs of Mega Man. These were tactical, collectible card battle games that were looking to ride Pokémon’s coat tails. There were 6 games in total, and they’re being released in 2 volumes.

Vampire Survivors: Tides of the Foscari is the second piece of DLC for this juggernaut. It’s the usual DLC bag of new characters, new enemies, new weapons, and new levels.

On the Switch and PC, TRON: Identity is a visual novel that ties in to Disney’s continual quest for more content. Do they call it TRONtent now? It’s late over here.

The most significant release this week is Vampire Survivors: Tides of the Foscari. I’ve never played, but I can spot a zeitgeist from all the way over on my lawn. GOTW.
