[News] They indicted!

And of course this just adds more juice to his grift machine.

and McCarthy is already slinging lies. Not to mention the massive hypocrisy considering what Trump has always communicated he would use the justice department for

"It is unconscionable for a President to indict the leading candidate opposing him. Joe Biden kept classified documents for decades," McCarthy said on Twitter. "I, and every American who believes in the rule of law, stand with President Trump against this grave injustice. House Republicans will hold this brazen weaponization of power accountable."

"I, and every American who believes in the rule of law, stand against this application of the rule of law."
Umm...

38 counts now.

Link to indictment (Note, pdf file hosted by NY Times)

Counts 1-31 are wilful retention of National Defense information.
Count 32 is conspiracy to obstruct justice
Count 33 Withholding of a document or record
Count 34 Corruptly concealing a document or record
Count 35 Concealing a document in a federal investigation
Count 36 Scheme to conceal
Count 37, 38 False statements or representation

I'm too scarred to get my hopes up for consequences. But hopefully this sticks.

That's how 38 became 7. 7 different types of charges but 38 counts. Haha. Always with the spin

Gobsmacking. Trump gift-wraps every element of the crime in about a 20 second conversation.

Within this transcript it's clear:
These documents are classified
These documents are from the military
These documents are in his possession at that moment
Awareness that the documents are still classified
Awareness that he can't disclose or declassify the information
That he shared the documents with staffers and others

I'm sure there's plenty more.

Bad news. Presiding judge is Aileen Cannon. The trump appointed f*ckwit that demanded the special master.

She got seriously smacked down for her actions there. I'm hopeful she'll be gunshy about pulling shenanigans again.

That said, she'll likely delay the actual trial until after the 2024 election, giving Trump a chance to throw out the case if he's elected.

For the arraignment, which is just likely due to already being involved in the case and doesn’t necessarily mean she’ll be assigned to the trial itself… and if she is the prosecution can always file a motion for recusal with the court of appeals which has a decent chance of getting heard considering Cannon’s widely-criticized behavior over this so far.

Yeah, I would think (although rationality is always questionable) that a judge appointed by, "that guy" needs to recuse themselves.

The real hurdle is the jury, which will likely contain Trump supporters given the state where the trial will be held.

What are the chances that Walt Nauta goes state's evidence before he gets the full force of federal convictions dropped on his ass?

Trump's cronies have shown themselves to be craven and only interested in their own best interests. I would think the mountain of evidence that attorneys have collected is a pretty good nudge towards, "save yourself" territory.

Marky Mark seems like he might be in trouble too

Exclusive: Mark Meadows removed classified documents from the White House the last night of Donald Trump's presidency

Former president Donald Trump’s chief of staff, Mark Meadows, removed more than a thousand pages of classified documents from the White House late at night on the final evening of Trump’s presidency. according to government records and interviews with several individuals, with first-hand knowledge of the matter.

Meadows removed the records from the White House on the orders of Donald Trump, and occurred despite advice from White House attorneys that making public the records would circumvent the long established and official procedures in place for declassifying them.

Among the people with first-hand knowledge that Meadows removed the records from the White House is Cassidy Hutchinson, the former aide to Meadows who gave riveting and meticulously detailed testimony to the House Jan. 6th committee about her knowledge of events of that day, based on her extraordinary access and proximity to Trump and Meadows.

Hutchinson personally witnessed Meadows remove the papers from the White House and place them in the trunk of her car to take home.

Hutchinson further told investigators that that Meadows had intended to share a portion or all of the papers with two conservative journalists, Molly Hemingway of the Federalist, and ultraconservative commentator John Solomon:

‘I know that he was with going to give them to—he had the intention to give [them] to Mollie Hemingway and John Solomon that night, but I don’t know if they ever made the trip or if they ended up in their hands,” Meadows testified.

What are the chances that the I-95 truck fire was the work of a trumpanzee who is upset at the indictments?

Less than 24 hours before the I-95 truck fire under a critical overpass....

Clay Higgins (R-LA) tweets

President Trump said he has "been summoned to appear at the Federal Courthouse in Miami on Tuesday, at 3 PM."

This is a perimeter probe from the oppressors. Hold. rPOTUS has this.

Buckle up. 1/50K know your bridges. Rock steady calm. That is all.

Eh, it’s a reach. Accidents happen all the time and if it was a deliberate attack I think it would have been more symbolic than a random overpass in a random state. These guys think they’re saving the world.

Is the reason that this conspiracy theory is gaining traction because Four Seasons Landscaping is right next to that portion of I-95?

I find the Legal Eagle videos to be good summaries of various legal topics, and one on the new indictment is up now. If you skip through the video, note that they used AI to generate his voice for the conversation transcripts.

Interesting... I wonder what rules there are for using AI to reproduce something that you have said. Since you said it, can anyone use AI to rebroadcast what you've said using your voice?

Nauta is monumentally f*cked. The time for him to turn state’s has long passed and now he’s going to end up going down in steerage class aboard the SS Trump.

Trump is having serious trouble finding qualified lawyers to represent him, given his long and storied history of not only failing to pay his lawyers but also getting them disbarred:

Trump is said to still be searching for a lawyer in the mold of Roy Cohn, the ruthless New York fixer who defended and mentored him before he was later disbarred – and the fear of potentially being asked to take similar actions has been a persistent issue.

That fear has loomed large for numerous lawyers Trump’s advisers have contacted, the people said, in particular after Trump might have made Evan Corcoran, another former lawyer who withdrew from his defense in the Mar-a-Lago documents investigation, into a witness against him.

I guess the turnout today outside the court house is what happens when Ginni Thomas doesn't spring for bus fare.

The prevailing post-6th narrative is that the joint forces of the FBI and antifa are eagerly waiting to use pro-Trump protests to entrap more MAGAts so everyone is really hesitant about turning out. Some influencers are actively warning people away from joining stuff like this.

"We demand a civil war! We just... don't want to show up to start one."

Excellent. Now if we can get them to believe that for the voting in 2024.

Make fascists terrified again.
