Julio has clearly cooled off, going from supernova to merely nova.
Yeah, they had a stat today. Hitting something like .500 over the last 2 weeks. Mediocre.
Mariners kinda fun right now!
It's been so long that I don't know that I (or my kids) can handle cheering for a team where the games in September really matter. Last year felt like they were a lock for a wild card slot, but weren't close to the division, but this year they're right in the mix for the division.
Yankees won today. If Oakland somehow beats Seattle, they will be tied since the all star break.
Imagine being in Las Vegas, where you have a WNBA champion team in the Aces and a Stanley Cup champion in the Golden Knights and saying to yourselves, "The real secret to sports success is stealing mediocre teams from Oakland!"
The Angels were done, but now they're done.
I was just talking with one of my coworkers in Tokyo who mentioned how it was a mistake for Ohtani to stay with the Angels. I reminded him that he's an owned property like all players and that without the consent of the owners, he isn't going anywhere. He is convinced that he got injured trying to carry that team on his back.
The Angels were done, but now they're done.
This sucks, unless you're one of the playoff teams on the bubble.
Where do I pitch to this monster... Hmm...
Wasn't he already a known piece of shit?
One again reminded of how the game has changed, because Pete Alonso is broadly considered the "best hitter" on the Mets.
I remember when Rob Deer seemed like an outlier. Now, every team has at least one Rob Deer, a dude who's gonna hit .210 but 1/3 of those hits will be HRs.
Nods in Phillie.
Our nominal leadoff hitter is batting .192 with 95 hits, 39 HR, 108 BB, and 175 Ks.
Then again, so far tonight we have 8 runs through 3 innings, and he scored two of them.
UPDATE: Kyle Schwarber has 40 home runs and 39 singles this season
2 for 3 tonight, so his average is up to .193 now.
Since the Angels have pretty much given up on the season, there is honestly no rational reason to play Ohtani another inning. He apparently hurt himself again in warmups for last night's game against the Orioles and his agent admits that he will need some sort of procedure in the offseason with a best case scenario of his returning in 2024.
Get him out of a uniform and into treatment now.
Also, Anthony Rendon is definitely an all-time worst contract, yes?
I think former team-mate Strasburg still has him beat.
Strasburg pitched 31.1 innings after signing his 245 million dollar contract, which works out to 7.9 million dollars per inning.
let's see how well this ages:
Texas is going to drop like a bomb through balsa wood and the Yanks make the playoffs.
The Rays have a rough stretch coming up. Unless they start playing some of their best ball, they could easily drop 7 of their next 10
PERHAPS CONSIDER NOT PITCHING HIM MIDDLE-MIDDLE.
I'm sure the pitcher(s) would like to do that.
