What's the best love story in videogames?

I’ve heard good things about Haven’s portrayal of an established romantic relationship.

Haven is a high bar for me, because you aren't experiencing character's falling in love and chasing each other, you are playing as them after they have fled their home world and are on the run, and the relationship grows. From stepping out of the home base and the character's hugging each other, or kissing each other, is such a nice touch. Even the title screen is Kay and Yu laying in a field together, just... existing. It's quite good.

I think my other recent favorite, especially after having played the previous titles, is Alex and Steph from Life is Strange: True Colors. The DLC provides more details into Steph's backstory from Arcadia Bay, and my goodness, I just adore those two. Maybe it's cuz Alex is an empath, maybe it's because they're both huge nerds that I feel connected to.

Regardless, these have both been the GotY for me in 2021 and 2022, respectively.

Max and Chloe in the original Life Is Strange was pretty great but that's just the most recent.

I could say the best is Commander Shepard helping Ashley love others and become a better person. But I know most of y'all blew her up on Virmire instead of talking to her and hit on the blue chick instead.

Romancing Tali, then dooming her entire species. So sweet.

The one that hit me hardest so far was A Summer's End - Hong Kong 1986, though that's a visual novel (LGBTQIA+) with a small amount of adult content.
Admittedly, I don't have much experience in the genre, so there are probably many more examples that are equally as good or better.

Finished this yesterday. Yeah, that was quite nice. But also basically zero experience with the genre.
