Sunday Night Football on Saturday afternoon? Weird.
Is Carrie Underwood going to change the lyrics a bit?
The Titans have just hired 49ers director of player personnel Ran Carthon to be their new GM.
Titans pay what--25 cents on the dollar in draft capital compared to what the Niners had to pay to get him?
I would have pretty much zero interest in trading Trey Lance unless it was a big offer.
If there's any lesson for the 49ers to learn from this season, it's to invest in your ENTIRE QB room.

Turns out he will be doing plenty of QB coach interviewing though, as the Bucs just fired him.
Nothing official has been reported yet; it's not on NFL.com, PFT, or being reported by any of the Bucs beat writers.
It's done:
Apparently they were ready to fire him in the middle of the season:
The Bucs okayed a plan to fire Leftwich at midseason – either after the Ravens game on Thursday Night Football or after the bye week. Instead, Bowles decided to trust his defense and Brady’s heroics and hoped that Leftwich and the offensive staff could make some improvements along the way, which didn’t happen. It’s likely that Bowles didn’t see a potential upgrade at play-caller on the current staff, which is why he stayed with Leftwich for the rest of the year.
As a Jags fan, how do you feel about Trent Baalke being the reason the Jaguars didn't get Leftwich as a coach and instead got Doug Pedersen? Might be the best personnel move he ever made.

Good point. I was just thinking wtf wasn't Leftwich highly sought after as a potential up and coming coach? Then this season happened.

Broken clocks.
Baalke was also the reason the Jags almost lost Pederson to another job. Pederson was "lukewarm" about the Jags job due to the "structure" (ie. Baalke).
If the Saints made more of a push for him, I think that's where he would have ended up, but for whatever reason, Dennis Allen was their frontrunner the whole time.
And let's face it, if Trevor wasn't there, Pederson wouldn't have even taken the interview.
I know how this story ends. It was all roses for Baalke/Harbaugh in the beginning too. I'm just gonna enjoy the success while it happens, before Baalke starts doing Baalke things.

But the fact that some geniuses were laughed at does not imply that all who are laughed at are geniuses. They laughed at Columbus, they laughed at Fulton, they laughed at the Wright brothers. But they also laughed at Bozo the Clown.

Trent Baalke is the best thing to ever happen to Jacksonville, and I couldn't be happier he switched from one of my teams to the other. I have asked my family to call me "Trent", and, every night, I sleep the sleep of angels curled up with my Trent Baalke body pillow.
Bold words, Legion.
I can't wait until your team starts collecting fat quarterbacks again.
In the least surprising news of the day, Greg Roman is gone.
So they are keeping Lamar?
So they are keeping Lamar?
That is not a given, but it seems so. I don't think we will know for sure for a while.
If Roman stayed, I think that would have signaled a near-certainty that they would keep Lamar.
Teams get rid of Greg Roman because they want to be less run-heavy. So to me, the move opens the door to the possibility of the team having a QB that isn't Lamar. But it could also just mean they want to evolve the Lamar offense into a more pass/run balanced one.
I still think the highest probability outcome is the team franchising Lamar, and having him play out 2023 on the franchise tender.

There has been a lot of talk for the last three seasons that Roman's system was stunting Lamar's development as a pocket passer. Particularly in the last two years where the defects in Roman's passing schemes became really, REALLY obvious, the chattering has grown to a roar. Just watch the film and it is pretty obvious he doesn't really understand the pass or how to stress a secondary. Lots of route combinations that result in three receivers in the same 5 yard square. Hell, it took him a full YEAR to get around to hot routes to deal with the zero coverage blitz.
It is at least as likely that the organization is banking on Lamar still being Lamar without Roman and improving when he actually has passing schemes that give him targets.
Believe me, I've already watched this entire Greg Roman arc play out from start to finish, with the 49ers and Colin Kaepernick.
It was trying to force Kaepernick into being a pocker passer, though, where things started to go wrong for him. So it's going to be interesting to see if Lamar does develop as a pocket passer post-Roman, or if Lamar was the limiting factor all along and the effort ends up being as square-peg-round-hole as it was for Kaepernick.
Lamar ran a spread offense in college. Let him loose.
Also what WRs wanted to come play for Roman? Maybe that's why Ravens couldn't ever get a true WR1 for Lamar
Vikings fire defensive coordinator Ed Donatell.
When's the last time a coordinator was fired from a 13-win team?

When's the last time a 13-win team had a negative point differential?
Even if we take the extra game out of the schedule and knock the win threshold down to 12, the answer is "never".
This article lists all the teams who had double-digit wins and advanced to the playoffs despite a negative point differential. It also states that Minnesota would be the first 12-win or 13-win team with such a differential.
Only two 11-win teams made that table: the 2012 Colts and the 2020 Browns.
It's almost as if the Vikings knew they were frauds.
The Packers on the other hand are terrified to fire Joe Barry because it will probably spook Rodgers that their won't be positive continuity. FML.
I would say "just rip off the band-aid and start the Love era already" but I know I'd be preaching to the choir.
Hmm, let's see. The Jags are...
* a 9-win playoff team
* led by a second-year starting QB
* facing the top AFC team in the divisional round
Someone check on *Legion*, he is on his sh*t again...
There's still time to hop on the bandwagon before they shock the world.

Jags beating 49ers would be all kinds of hilarious.
Especially if it was Pederson out coaching Shanahan.
I just want the Superb Owl to test ***Legion***'s loyalty.
