I think anyone remotely affected by the stench of Carson Wentz should get a mulligan
Reich wanted that stench though. Wentz was his choice in Indy. That's his 1 Peter 3:15 buddy.
When it comes to the question, "where will Carson Wentz be employed next year", I would put the highest odds on "wherever Frank Reich is hired". Even if that employment might be as a QB2.

Seems like Reich and Carolina are a match made in heaven, then; if there's a team that likes acquiring disappointing highly-drafted retread QBs, it's the Panthers.
The same job his dad Paul Hackett held 20 years ago.
My first reaction to this is that the Jets are going after Aaron Rodgers. That was already being suggested before this hire. Pairing up with Rodgers was supposed to happen for Hackett in Denver, but now that the Packers seem more motivated to move Rodgers before that massive option bonus is due, it might happen in New York.
Don't give me the false hope that there's a chance we'll see Patrick dunking on Q. A. A. Ron.

At first I thought you meant Mahomes, and then I realized you meant... Star. *facepalm*

GB QB going to Jets? Sounds familiar. I bet Rodgers is more responsible with his phone camera though.

Yup. Mark Brunell.

Oh, you mean that other former Packers QB turned Jet.
I guess David Tepper likes 1 Peter 3:15 too.
But I think the owner is kind of a dumbass who's going to chase some shiny object instead of going with the rock-solid option that's right in front of his stupid face.
Edit: is that a triple tannhuaser?
Haha Rat-hausered on your own team news
At least I don't hate this guy like I did the last dude.
That's a low bar to clear, but yes. Even as a Frank Reich skeptic, I would much rather my NFL team be coached by Frank Reich than by Matt Rhule.
"I love coach [Belichick], but he f--ked us."
Reports out of New England indicate the handling of offensive coordinating and playcalling in New England this year was just as awful and awkward as it looked from the outside:
Highlights:
One source said Judge's voice was phased out as the season went on after he would "command meetings" and "coached across positions" during training camp, drawing the ire of position coaches and Belichick, who would "blast" Judge during practices.
Another source said quarterback Mac Jones does not like Judge and that they regularly got into heated, "profanity-laced" arguments during practice.
And:
Per Callahan, sources noted that some players were frustrated this season with the switch from the team's usual offense to the type of offense Mike Shanahan used to run with the Denver Broncos.
None of Belichick's offensive assistants had experience running that system, and the players who did have experience playing in the Shanahan system reportedly expressed concern over the coaches' apparent lack of understanding.
There was also reportedly a feeling among players that things were oversimplified offensively and that not enough passing concepts were implemented ahead of the start of the regular season.
Had to highlight that one part. So you've got guys trying to crib the Shanahan system, without understanding how any of it actually works. And their lack of understanding was so stark that it stood out to players who have been in that system. That is AMAZING.

Giddy as this does increase the chances.
When Hackett was fired Packer blogs already started speculating that he might come back to the Packers in some capacity because the red zone offense was so bad. That picked up more once officially eliminated as they were so bad in the Lions game at putting up points.
The Jets might be desperate enough because of Zach Wilson and Rodgers might be delusional enough that he can go to NY and win over the city. I'm sure his ego would love that.
Not sure if Rodgers is that delusional that he thinks he can take on the AFC though.
I imagine a trade is going to be something like two 1st round picks, but with conditions on the second 1st in the event Rodgers retires. I can't imagine trading two 1sts for him without some guarantees against him walking away.
The Jets have the 13th pick this year, which would give the Packers another mid-1st to pair with their own #15 pick. And if Love is trash in 2023, they would have two 1sts in the 2024 draft to go chasing after QBs with.
I am here for the pivot from Cowboys schadenfreude to Patriots schadenfreude.
Giddy as this does increase the chances.
Adding even more fuel to the fire:
Granted, "veteran" could still mean Jimmy Garoppolo, or Derek Carr, or even going after Lamar, but it does at least take targeting a QB in the draft off the table, as well as rumors like trading for someone like Trey Lance. Also signals that they have no intention of running it back with Mike White, regardless of how popular he was in the locker room this year. (Though White could still return as QB2)
Garoppolo seemed like a sure thing until they fired Mike LaFleur. Hackett's from the West Coast world too so Jimmy isn't out of the picture, but it will be shocking if the Jets don't at least make a run at Qaaron.
Plot twist: the Jets trade for Russell Wilson and the Broncos actually end up with Qaron this time around.
Spotrac wrote an article detailing all the possible ways for Denver to get out from under the Russell Wilson contract, and the options are bleak:
This is a non-conversation. It’s possible we get to March 2025, and things are still as bad as they are today, and the Broncos convince the owner to pay him $37M cash to go away - but even then, even three Marches from now, we’re talking about $86.6M of dead cap.
A Post June 1st release in 2025 would mean dead cap hits of $55.4M in 2025, and another $31.2M in 2026.
The cleaner solution - the way this contract was actually meant to exist - is that the Broncos move on after the 2025 season, taking on a $31.2M dead cap hit, saving $27.2M of space, and continuing on with their lives.
If that feels like forever from now - it’s because it is.
I vote for chaos:
I want to know what happens if Denver cuts Wilson and other players and winds up with more dead cap than actual cap space.

Ooh. Do Cleveland next
I'd take White Mike over the guy that team currently employs.
Two The Wire references in as many pages. I can do this all day.
Speaking of white Mikes, Mike LaFleur is the new Rams OC.
