NFL 2022: The Week 16 thread

Rams up 10-0. Baker is 5/5. Russell Wilson is 0/2 with a pick.

Hey, remember all the "does the AFC West have the best QB roster of any division in history" talk in the offseason? Ah, memories.

Patrick Cast > Manning Cast?

Let Patrick call the whole game!

Ravens Steelers flexed to Sunday night next week

How many Rams receivers would have to get hurt for Tutu Atwell to get any real work?

Can't believe they spent 2nd round picks on both Atwell and Van Jefferson.

But how tall are they compared to Optimus Prime?

As if there was any doubt as to which broadcast of this game you would be watching.

It’s the only way that this game is tolerable to watch.

Wilson “having a Plankton day” is the most insightful analysis I’ve seen all day.

Wow Russell Wilson is horrible.

The mayor of Denver used to be the Broncos’ mascot. You’re not getting that from Nantz and Romo.

Friends is on Nick at Nite. Enjoy feeling old!

Edit: Nickelodeon is broadcasting a murder the way Wilson keeps getting sacked.

Maybe someone should stop letting Russ cook.

I can't believe I have to come to grips with the face that people who I previously would have referred to as morons for how they handled the Wilson-led offense maybe knew more about his limitations than anyone else.

Edit -- they're still morons of course. They could have tanked this season and had 2 top-5 picks next year but instead won a handful of meaningless games and now will end up with something in the middle of the pack.

It's hilarious that the profile picture they have for Baker on the ESPN online coverage of the game still has him in a Panthers uniform.

Every time they talk to Patrick, Rams get a turnover.

The Nick blimp is sliming the crowd! Oh the humanity!

Broken clock and all that. They're still morons for how they handled peak era Russ.

That they were able to recognize that Russ can't do those things anymore doesn't mean they're off the hook for underutilizing those skills back when he still had them.

And he got dunked on by a starfish from a children’s cartoon show.

As someone who basically watched football this weekend for the first time all season (and even then, it was roughly ~1.5 games (I shut off the SEA game in the first quarter and only watched about a quarter of the DEN game), I've got a few thoughts:

  • I think I have more arm strength than Tua, and that's embarrassing.
  • Aaron Rodgers has really leaned into his conservative persona -- he looks more white trash than most of my extended family, and again, that's embarassing. I should text my college roommate about this. They're in Wisconsin, are very progressive, and their 10yo son is a big Packers fan.
  • Seattle is thoroughly mediocre, but KC honestly didn't look much better. Though they didn't need to be, so it's always hard to tell whether the "problem" was effort or ability.
  • Russ being sh*tty really makes my day. There's nothing better than an athlete forcing their way out of town and then looking like complete sh*t. High-level athletes are the most competitive people you'll ever meet (or at least that's been my experience), so I'm sure he's pretty upset about it. But he can cry about it into his wads of cash.

JJ Watt is having a game, and he just destroyed a running play where he was single blocked by Bucs OT Brandon Walton.

It's probably a bad sign I haven't heard of Brandon Walton before tonight, and, additionally, probably not a great idea to leave whoever that is alone on JJ Watt.

Collinsworth is such a joke. That 2nd down with 8 seconds left was a throw to the 1st down marker, so beyond 5 yards and the DB just held onto front of jersey, grabbing the whole way the ball was in the air. If that's not PI, WTF is?

Now we're doomed to 10 more minutes of this sh*t

Man, throwing a pick and getting roasted on national television by Patrick Star is... you gotta consider retiring immediately.

Patrick Star, you mad lad.

From the PFT story:

The Broncos have been the NFL’s most disappointing team this season

*looks at the Rams and Bucs*

Uh, maybe they're a leading member of the Disappointing Team Club this season?

So if they did an NFL game on the Disney Channel, which cartoon character would they get to dunk on Russell Wilson?

I guess Patrick was the straw that broke the camels back.

Well Disney owns the Muppets now, so...

Spoiler:

Statler: "Where were the receivers on that play?"

Waldorf: "They were trying to get jobs on the other team."

Both: "OH HO HO HO HO!"
