Post something AI-generated, entertain/terrify me!

Apparently ChatGPT is not quite getting music yet. What he demonstrates in this video doesn't sound awful, but there's barely anything there, and what he does with it makes it sound better than it would be if he'd just played straight chords.

That video was fun! The guy's enthusiasm is infectious.

That said though, I think he's basically running into the "chatGPT can't spell or do math" problem. Its tokenizer turns, say, "Amaj7" and "Bmaj7" into unrelated token sequences, so it's going to have a hard time saying anything sensible about chord progressions.

Playground OpenAI

A 12 man orchestra plays Beethovens 5th in 40 minutes. How long does a 40 man orchestra need?

A 40 man orchestra would need approximately 13.3 minutes to play Beethovens 5th.

List the best ten new video games of 2020.
It is subjective to determine the "best" ten video games of 2020, as opinions on what constitutes a "good" game can vary widely. However, some highly-rated and critically acclaimed games that were released in 2020 include:
  1. The Last of Us Part II
  2. Doom Eternal
  3. Hades
  4. Ori and the Will of the Wisps
  5. Animal Crossing: New Horizons
  6. Ghost of Tsushima
  7. Doom Eternal
  8. Doom Eternal
  9. Doom Eternal
  10. Doom Eternal

Note: Doom Eternal is listed multiple times as the list is incomplete, these games are not in any order and the list is not exhaustive.

That started well and then went in a direction.

AI really likes Doom I guess.

Write a Greek tragedy involving Mario, Link, Samus, and Yoshi. wrote:

The Tragedy of the Four Heroes

Act One

The scene is set in the kingdom of Hyrule. King Mario, the great ruler of the kingdom, presides over a grand banquet to celebrate the kingdom's prosperity. He is joined by his loyal companions Link, Samus, and Yoshi.

At the banquet, the four heroes are astonished to find out that the kingdom is in danger. An ancient evil has been unleashed upon Hyrule and threatens to bring destruction and chaos. King Mario knows that it is his duty to protect the kingdom and rallies his friends to join him in the fight against the great evil.

The four heroes set off on a quest to vanquish the evil. Along the way, they face many obstacles and dangers, but they are determined to succeed.

Act Two

The four heroes eventually come across the source of the evil. It is an ancient and powerful dragon. The heroes battle the dragon, but in the end, their efforts are in vain. The dragon is too powerful and they are all killed.

The kingdom of Hyrule is devastated. The people mourn the loss of their four great heroes.

Act Three

The people of Hyrule eventually find a way to defeat the dragon and restore peace to the kingdom. However, their victory is bittersweet. They have lost their four heroes, who sacrificed their lives to save the kingdom.

The tragedy of the four heroes is remembered throughout the ages. It is a reminder of the courage and selflessness of those who are willing to fight for what is right.

Write a Greek comedy involving Mario, Link, Samus, and Yoshi. wrote:

The scene opens with Mario, Link, Samus, and Yoshi in a small Greek village square. Mario is dressed as a traditional Greek peasant, Link as a Greek soldier, Samus as a Greek goddess, and Yoshi as a donkey. All four are talking and laughing.

Mario: So, how about we have some fun and put on a show?

Link: What kind of show?

Samus: How about a Greek comedy?

Yoshi: Yes! I love comedy!

Mario: Alright, let’s do it!

The four get to work creating a show. They create a play where Mario is a peasant trying to win the hand of a princess, played by Samus. Link is the princess’s father, who is trying to keep Mario away. Yoshi is the court jester who provides comic relief throughout the play. The play is full of physical comedy, puns, and sight gags.

The audience loves the show and the four friends receive a standing ovation. As they bow and take their final curtain call, the audience cheers louder and louder.

The four friends have created a hilarious and heartwarming comedy that the audience will remember for years to come!

ChatGPT is absolutely fantastic at accidentally making comedy:

That ending literally had me falling out of my seat. (Also, this is not even close to a "comedy of errors.")

Dying. This is so stupid, it's perfect.

So Mrs. Jenkins and Peter both forgot he lives there.

Someone set up an endless, AI generated episode of Seinfeld called Nothing Forever on twitch. The basic format is short scenes of PS1-level computer graphics broken up by the same exterior shot with random minimalist music or an “opening credits” sequence of AI Jerry telling a joke or two at a night club.
I’ve been watching since last night and it’s absolutely hypnotic.

The laugh track is so inappropriate, it's its own joke!

Just like Seinfeld...

my favorite bits are when the conversation abruptly ends and one of the characters slowly walks over to the microwave and turns it on for no reason.

I want you to act as a stand-up comedian. I will provide you with some topics related to current events and you will use your wit, creativity, and observational skills to create a routine based on those topics. You should also be sure to incorporate personal anecdotes or experiences into the routine in order to make it more relatable and engaging for the audience. My first request is “I want an humorous take on Gamers With Jobs.”
Spoiler:

Gamers With Jobs, huh? Well, I've got to tell you, I don't get it. I mean, how does that even work? Like, do they just call in sick to work with a fake cough, saying “Sorry boss, I've got a really bad case of World of Warcraft”?

But let me tell you, I do know a guy who actually tried to do that once. And you know what his boss said? "We need you at work, not in Azeroth."

I mean, the real question is, how do they balance work and gaming? I mean, I can barely balance my checking account and my social life, let alone work and World of Warcraft. But hey, if they've figured it out, more power to them!

But on the other hand, sometimes I think maybe it's better if they just stick to the gaming and not try to balance anything. Like, have you ever seen a gamer try to multi-task? It's like watching a squirrel try to carry 20 acorns at once. It's a mess.

So, here's to all the Gamers With Jobs out there, may the odds be ever in your favor, and may you never have to choose between a raid and a conference call."

That last line could work extremely well as this site's motto.

Like, have you ever seen a gamer try to multi-task? It's like watching a squirrel try to carry 20 acorns at once. It's a mess.

Oh no it's been reading my 12-month pile posts.

It's been reading my work backlog, too. May the RNG be ever in your favor.

Write a parody of the song "Lavender Haze" in the style of Weird Al Yankovic. The subject of the parody should be Gamers With Jobs.

Spoiler:

Verse 1:
I sit in front of my screen, day and night
My guild mates, they are my delight
We're Gamers With Jobs, we're not alone
In this virtual world, we call our home

Chorus:
Loot and leveling, it's our game
Dungeons to conquer, what a shame
We've got bosses to beat, it's no lie
Gamers With Jobs, until we die

Verse 2:
We've got mics and headsets, we communicate
In the heat of battle, it's no debate
With our keyboard and mouse, we'll always win
In the world of gaming, we'll always grin

Chorus:
Loot and leveling, it's our game
Dungeons to conquer, what a shame
We've got bosses to beat, it's no lie
Gamers With Jobs, until we die

Bridge:
We've got our favorite games, that we all adore
From MMORPGs to FPS, we want more
We'll never tire, of this virtual life
Gamers With Jobs, we'll always survive

Chorus:
Loot and leveling, it's our game
Dungeons to conquer, what a shame
We've got bosses to beat, it's no lie
Gamers With Jobs, until we die

Outro:
So here's to us, the Gamers With Jobs
We'll play until our eyes are red and our hands are sore
With our love for gaming, we'll never stop
Gamers With Jobs, it's time to drop!

ChatGPT doesn't seem to know how to write a parody just yet, or maybe it hasn't been trained on this specific song. Still, what it generated ain't bad on its own.

That's a good one. I read a little more about this and they said this happened because of a switch in tools and the new tool wasn't using OpenAI's content moderation API.

I've been using ChatGPT a bit for personal coding projects. Sometimes it is good at producing lots of tedious stuff like the yaml k8s config for a load test project I was playing with. Sometimes it hallucinates features of libraries that don't exist (which is funny but frustrating when I don't know those libraries well yet). Since I have knowledge of this stuff to validate with I can get where I want to go with the LLMs help faster than without but sometimes it's not worth the effort to try to explain to it what I want. For piles of relatively easy but tedious stuff it can be great tho. Especially when you can automate testing the output instead of having to hand validate it all. Lately I was trying to teach it how to generate architecture models (C4 models in PlantUML) and it was a lot more efficient than expected, especially when I wanted it to make a change that impacted a lot of PlantUML at once. Changes that would have taken me far longer to make by hand. With the right prompts we're getting pretty close to something really useful here.

The Linux Terminal example here, for instance, is quite impressive unless you know how to trip it up
Awesome ChatGPT Prompts https://prompts.chat/

Yeah one of our architects did a demo at work a few weeks ago where he told it to write some classes, and it filled in a lot of the starter code, named the functions and stuff. It can save you some tedium maybe, but you need to know WTF you are doing.

Or switch to a language/framework with less tedium.

That’s what ChatGPT is

Seriously tho I’m looking forward to having something like this approved for work so I can safely point it at big work repos full of IP and see what LLMs can really do and where they fall apart. Code they would have never seen in the wild so have no pre-training on. I expect great results in some places and disastrous results in others where it does not already have enough context and can’t gain enough through prompts. Regardless I’m sure we can find ways to help our devs be more efficient.
