NFL 2022: The Week 13 thread

Hall of Famers from the University of Northern Iowa: 1

Hall of Famers from Fresno State University: 0

ADVANTAGE: PANTHERS.

Henry Ellard, Lorenzo Neal, and Logan Mankins are on the HoF semifinalist list. We're coming for you, UNI!

Rams claim Baker Mayfield. Makes sense, because waiver claims is the only way they're gonna get 1st round draft picks on their roster now.

Mayfield to the Rams.

Edit: Dammit.

7-8 weeks means possibly having to survive the wild-card and divisional rounds with Purdy. Of course, we've seen injury timelines like this get sped up for the postseason, so, who knows?

Glad to see Mayfield landed on his feet and will get a chance where he's not expected to do much. Guess we'll find out soon how much of his terrible season is due to the Panthers' former HC.

How do the IR rules work for Jimmy? Does he need to be in the active roster on week 18 to be eligible for playoff games?

No. He'll go on IR and have to miss at least four games, but they don't have to activate him prior to the playoffs.

He's not the only IR player the Niners will be hoping to activate during the postseason, either. Elijah Mitchell's injury timeline puts his potential return somewhere around wildcard weekend, but probably not before that.

Last season, Derrick Henry was injured in week 8, and was not activated from IR until the Divisional round.

Surely the Niners can catch Minnesota...

Looks at schedule...

Uh maybe the Giants will beat the Vikings?

Dallas should lose to Philly at least. Maybe the Titans. Getting to 3 is possible but 2nd is tough

There's only one bye now in the 7-team format, so getting up to #2 doesn't give them a whole lot.

Best thing is to get in, and if they win the division, to maintain a better record than Tampa, so that they don't play the best wildcard seed (almost certain to be Dallas) in round 1.

Next week's matchup of equally-prominent QBs between Tom Brady and *checks notes* Brock Purdy will help determine that.

Dammit right. Forgot about expansion. Have fun sitting out and getting rusty then, Philly.

I'm quite certain the 49ers defense is better than the Saints

Apparently whatever ails Jimmy G is contagious: TD Trevor also has a foot injury.

Von Miller out for season, ACL

If you'll excuse me, I need to go make an adjustment to the OBJ Power Rankings...

Patrick Mahomes does too, though he doesn't expect it to affect him this week.

Why can't Jimmy ever have one of these nothing injuries? Why's it always have to be catastrophic with him?

Spent all his durability points on keeping his face pretty, makes the rest of his body more fragile. The man has to prioritize.

Played well enough to make $124.8m career earnings to date, and walk away looking like that. Championships are great and all, but I'm not sure he chose wrong.
