Marvel Snap - Catch-all

Some of the pixel variants are okay, some are bad, but this one compounded the frown because not only was it not a new card, I don't use Sinister all that often--he's in my Powerless deck, but hardly the clutch feature of it, especially since the last card I got was Brood.

Onewild, welcome! I'm around level 550 and still an amateur at the deck building aspect. I found the Polygon best pool 1, 2 and 3 decks to construct very helpful and a good way to try different styles of decks. Just a thought.

I'm not sure if it's been covered in here, but the way the card unlocks work is in a given set of 4 reserves you're guaranteed 1 card unlock. The other reserves will contain other things, be it credits, collector tokens, gold, or variants.

It's possible to get a card on the first reserve of one set of four and then the last reserve of the next set, leaving you with 6 reserves in between.

If that happens, you know where the game is parting out the groupings of four and you will often times just know when you're more likely to get a card.

This same system applies to Series 4 cards, but there it's one in every 40 reserves. I recently went the maximum 78 reserves between unlocking Luke Cage and Titania.

Series 5 there are no guaranteed drops. Ever. It's raw luck. I believe it's 2.5% chance or something.

0,25% actually. So basically impossible to draw.

I’ve have almost all pool 3 cards now and am dreading the slow drip of series 4 and 5 cards once I get there. Hopefully Second Dinner start moving cards from 4 down to 3 soon.

I have managed to pull 3 series 4 cards so far and bought She Hulk with collectors tokens, so do have a lot of interesting cards to play with.

Am loving the game. Spending way to much time playing it!

I just counted, though, and it did go: Brood (last card unlock) > 2 > 3 > 4 > 5 > Sinister Variant. Previously it went Hela > 2 > Holiday Ebony Maw > Brood, is that why it didn't work out?

I do, at least, have Magik pinned in my token shop, and I'm also at least at 700 on those. I'm still well and firmly in Pool 3, however.

For every set of four boxes you're supposed to get one of the following: currency (either gold or credits), tokens, a cosmetic and a new card (as long as you are still in pool 3, turns into tokens after you finish pool 3).

So it could've been like this for you:

2 Credits or Tokens
3 Hela
4 Credits or Tokens

1 Cosmetic: Ebony Maw
2 Brood
3 Credits or Tokens
4 Credits or Tokens

1 Credits or Tokens
2 Credits or Tokens
3 Cosmetic: Sinister

So in theory your next box should be a card.

I've tracked my past 1248 levels in Excel and had at least two hickups in that rotation however, so I wouldn't bet my life on it that the system is 100% bug free. My theory is that this comes from switching between iPhone, iPad and PC. I've been hickup *free since I started picking up all rewards on my phone exclusively. So in case you do not get a card out of your next cache it would be interesting to hear if you also switch between devices a lot.

Did someone buy the current season pass for Zabu? Thoughts on Zabu?

I'm a bit bored playing my current mix of Patriot and Dino decks and desperately hope for a card that gives me a fresh deck.

Skimming through deckbuilds on youtube I found him paired with Spider-Man and Absorbing Man (neither of which I have) and Dracula (which I also do not have) so I'm not quite sold on the season pass.

Also: How do you guys currently spend your gold? Mission refresh or are you holding out in hope for another bundle with tokens in a couple of weeks?

Zabu enables a essentially a new deck archetype and a bunch of interesting combos, but you're correct in that the vast majority of those decks require a significant number of series 3 cards to really work.

And the best most stable decks with Zabu all seem to have at least one of the series 5 cards in them due to very specific synergies.

I've still had fun with Zabu, but I'm also series 3 complete and have most of series 4 so the only ones I'm out in the cold on are the decks with series 5 cards in them.

I've got enough tokens for one, just waiting for Shuri or Darkhawk to actually show themselves in my shop. Which might be tonight, or might be next month. I guess we'll see.

I knew it was low, lol! But also of the people I've been talking to about the game regularly, 3 have pulled a series 5 card from a reserve. One got Galactus, another pulled Valkyrie, and... I forget what the third was honestly.

But there's content creators that are 3,000 collection levels deep since series 5 was added that haven't gotten one from a reserve yet so definitely just blind luck.

I’ve been having fun with this Zabu deck. Requires a few series 3 cards plus She Hulk from series 4, but really works well.

I buy all the season passes. For the amount of time I spend playing this game, its absolutely worth it!

As for gold, I hoard it to buy bundles that include tokens.

Opened 2 this morning, the first one was tokens, but the second was Mr. Negative, who seems pretty fun, but I definitely need to work out how to use better. I only play on an iPad, so who knows?

Thanks for the list! I can actually build that deck so I might bite on the season pass tomorrow.

I also plan to hoard tokens, but have to admit it makes me play less since it feels „not worth it“ to play when it nets no credits anymore sadly.

Season pass is well worth it if you want the card, most of the credits are f2p though so without wanting the card I feel ok skipping it.

Just started playing this game not to long ago. I enjoy making theme decks and really enjoy if they are viable. My X-men deck is terrible. I don't have enough good x-men and professor X screws me over more than helps.

My villain deck does surprisingly well considering nothing syncs with anything. Like I have the vulture but no way to move him and carnage but no one I want to feed him to. Bad guys can't work together but somehow I come out on top most of time.

Kind of interesting that I think I see three cards played wrong a lot. There is 1, 1 lady card that destroys cost 1 cards. I see people play this all the time on empty lands on turn one instead of using her for a guaranteed hit. Or maybe I don't understand how to use it. Then I see iceman played on turn one instead of late game when it is more likely to cause a problem by turning a 6 into cost 7. However, playing it anytime is useful just seems like it would be more useful to play it as late as possible. Then the last card I see played wrong is Heimdal where I think people don't do the math. I keep seeing people moving cards to lands they are guaranteed to lose. My move deck with Heimdal is currently my best deck. I'm kind of surprised because I would think the setup can be seen early.

My current thing is trying to find the best use for Ebony maw which I have mostly missed used but I'm getting better with him. He is hanging out in the villain deck.

Think I will make a no powers deck, decks with all the cards being the same cost, deck where everyone is completely covered head to toe, non human deck, a deck with only characters I own comics of, a deck that is made up of all cards that messes with opponent deck, a four horseman deck.

Names of current decks
C0llect
Ladies
Black
Little
Reprise
Carnage
Going On
Big Boi
Move
Avengers
GotG
All American
Villain
Watcher
Super Sayian
Wea9on5

Good for you. I basically stopped watching any content of the game since it makes me feel like I‘m missing out on all the fun decks I can’t play yet. It feels so weird to play a collectable card game where you can’t buy the cards when they jump fresh off the hype drain.

I‘m in the last third of pool 3 but still many decks have one or two cards I‘m missing. I might save my tokens for an Absorbing Man though. Sooner or later I‘ll pull the rest of pool 3 and have most of the core cards besides the ramp, move and discard ones like Psylocke and Dracula.

Did you get a headstart by starting during beta?

Fingers crossed for Darkhawk and Shuri! Both seem great additions! Darkhawk seems like it could have a unique archetype, Shuri just very op fits most decks.

Ok, weird, but as I said the rule of four also failed for me before.

I tried asking about it in a couple of places but got shouted at for questioning it, so maybe we‘re just part of the unlucky few.

It mostly evened out for me, so it seems they sort it out within the next set of four caches, so I won’t complain as long as I get two cards and 200 tokens in a set of 8.

Iceman only ups the cost to a maximum of 6 so it’s better to play him early.

If you are still in pool 2 or early in pool 3 enjoy it as long as it lasts. I found the decks I faced to be very different after I got to a higher collection level. More finetuned and synergetic. You‘ll know when you have to sit through your first Galactuy animation or wait for three different buffy to be applied to a board full of Ultron drones

I think a lot of people just aren’t comfortable NOT playing a card if they are able to, so if they start out with a single one-cost card in their hand they feel obligated to play it regardless of whether it’s a good tactical move. I suffered from this a lot until I started playing a deck with only a single one- and two-cost card each, I’m often not even able to play anything until turn three and still have things turn out in my favor.

I also early on misplayed Elektra because I didn't know how to tell who revealed first. My pure X-Men deck also isn't great on account that they all work in different styles somewhat ironically.

MEATER wrote:

That's me! I wouldn't have to play that deck so often in I'd stop getting "Win with 4 Cards" challenges.

Baron Of Hell wrote:

I try to always play Ebony Maw behind Invisible Woman so his "can't play here anymore" ability isn't active and it protects him from Electra or Warmonger.

I feel you. "Win with one card" is my main reason for playing Dino

I have no trouble filling the board with Patriot Sera Surfer.

Luke's Bar is so annoying. I've added Scarlet Witch into most of my decks so I can get rid of it while it's being the boosted location.

It has its uses, but gets in the way of my movement deck. It can be fun for replaying Gambit in my Discard deck, but overall it doesn't really help my play style.

I think this is mostly it. Less experienced players feel obligated to play something. And as a 1/1 card Elektra is a total waste at the beginning of the game if she's not destroying a card. Where she's great (horrible for me) is after someone has powered up a Human Torch a couple of times.

My Discard deck has no 1 energy cards and I'll only play a 2 energy card if it's Morbius or Colleen Wing if I have a Swarm or Wolverine in my hand.

I came across an interesting deck in the wild, and feel a bit bad about how I beat them, but they seemed cool with it. Their deck was built around Bishop, and then playing a bunch of low cost cards with Angela, either on Luke's Bar, or culminating with Beast, so they had a massive Bishop and a massive Angela ready. Meanwhile, I was having just about the least ideal Mr. Negative round possible, so I thumbed them up, figured I'd ride it out to turn 6, and played Jubilee, who called forth...Leader, and copied their final Angela. I was able to eke out a narrow win with what I had, but they gave me the fist bump. I'm going to give that build a shot, though.

The ugly side of the game is getting a lot of attention in the last 24 hours

Reddit Variable Aquistion

I think I’ve said the before, but it’s just sad that what I maybe foolishly thought was a better card acquisition model than booster packs has turned out to be worse. I like the IP more than other popular TCGs but I’ve started to wonder if maybe I should give some of those another look.

What's the TLDW? Just the time investment to get all the cards and there not being a way to just buy them?

I don’t know if I can do a TLDW exactly but there’s no way to ever get all the cards with any amount of time investment. You could get them all with money but it would be over $400 a month to keep up. There’s no excitement for 99% of players over new non-Season Pass cards because possibility of playing with them is next to zero.

Yes you can get it eventually maybe but by then the card probably has little excitement around it. You can use it sure and it’s new to you but TCGs need excitement and hype around new cards when they are released.

I also just find it notable that multiple content creators came out with criticisms at the same time. KMBest is considered one of the best players of the game and Kilbin’s video already has 14k views in 12 hours. Just interesting in terms of the game’s status.

How are you able to buy cards?

You can’t buy cards directly, of course. Someone could theoretically keep up with new card releases by spending a lot each month and getting enough tokens etc.

So are they buying gold, converting it to credits, upgrading cards, and opening caches to get enough tokens to just keep buying cards until they get the card they want?
