It's been pretty wild trying to relearn movement decks--one carried me through Pool 2 and well into early Pool 3, only to lay fallow as I built out Patriots and She-Nauts and such, then eventually get deleted. Gwen has also been reluctant to come out for me, and I've been getting missions that are better suited to other decks.
Then there was this match. As great FF antagonist Emet-Selch says: "Ah, the irony!"
Edit: Ok, super fun and funny and clearly unexpected Gwen play is moving a tech card around, in this case Cosmo. Played Cosmo to block the destruction of a Bucky, and then next turn Gwened him over to where I expected them to play next, and sure enough, zapped their whole play. The fact that one of their cards was a Yondu is the icing on the cake. They retreated immediately, but I got a good laugh.
Played the new Conquest mode for awhile and came to the conclusion that the things I enjoy most about the regular Marvel Snap matches are that they only take a minute or two and you don’t have to play against the same exact deck 5 times in a row. Every single game by the end of match 2 you’ve either figured out which combo they can’t counter or vice versa, and the remaining matches are just about attrition and aren’t very fun even when winning.
I recently decided I'd like to try Snap again, only to discover that when I deleted it from my phone last year, I hadn't preserved my deck. So ... back to the start of the grind, for me. (I had been somewhere in Pool 2 at the time.)
I've only tried Conquest twice, and the first time it was quite monotonous but also very satisfying to beat a much more advanced player, with a deck involving a lot more thought and variety, with a very early, standard Odin-based deck. They got me down to 1 health and then somehow I managed to grind out 3 consecutive wins in the high-stakes rounds. Would have been really frustrated, if I were them.
I don't think I have any interest in trying to complete conquest. I'll grind out PG's to get the Card but I think that's about it.
I bit the bullet and bought Galactus even with the not really a nerf nerf. Trying to figure out ways to drop a surprise Galactus has been fun. My favorite so far is Sentry>Viper>Gwen>Galactus.
Okay, my current favorite use of Ghost Spider is to move Hobgoblin or Green Goblin. I just played Hobgoblin into their Wong lane which clogged it. I then played Ghost Spider into their only open lane and Green Goblin into the lane I just yanked Hobgoblin out of. I deserved the Ms Marvel emote for that one.
Seems the community has mostly agreed that best form for PG matches is to snap immediately and the loser concedes. Unfortunately, it also seems that many have decided to play some of the most dickbag decks imaginable and force a retreat out of sheer annoyance. I doubt I'll climb very high, but I like having this no-stakes mode to try out new things and do some of the more irksome missions, and to just do when it seems like the luck of the draw is against me.

That's what I've mostly used PG for but I don't want to hurry up and end the match. I want to test things out. Maybe if getting back into a PG match was as quick as the ladder then it wouldn't matter but those unnecessary taps after each match is annoying.
Spider-Ham in a bounce deck almost feels cruel, first match I played him I was able to pig three different cards in my opponent’s hand. It completely disabled their deck. I think he’s going to be the new Leech.
EDIT: after playing with Spider-Ham most of the night, I strongly suspect he won’t last long before he’s nerfed. His ability is just too powerful for how cheap a card he is. I can reliably play him 2-3 times a match and he pretty effectively counters most deck archetypes. There seem to be some bugs in how he interacts with Knull and Evolved Hulks, but otherwise he’s basically a targeted leech that you can play at any time.
On the plus side, I pigged Galactus about a dozen times tonight and each one was super satisfying.
Gawd, I'm dreading it. As if the Iceman-Yondu-Scorpion needed more annoying tools.
Anyway, I wish the "Play 1k power" mission had come up before this game, but alas:
My favorite deck runs Infinaut and Giganto so I have been enjoying all the power with no limits I've been getting.
There is for sure a bug when interacting with Knull. My Spider-Ham hit a powered up Knull on turn 5 and on turn 6 they played a 35 power pig. That can't be right.
Since Knull’s power updates while in a player’s hand it seems to freeze him at whatever the value is when he got pigged. Same thing happens with Evolved Hulk. I don’t know whether it’s a bug or intended.
I feel like the cheap and popular cards that irrevocably mess with your deck could use more counters, so I may be fine with Hulk and Knull working that way.
I did just go 3-0 against just such an obnoxious deck with a hybrid move and bounce deck, and maaaaaaaan does it feel great.
I just got myself an infinity ticket with a deck I'm calling "Sprite & Shuri." It's basically the old Red Skull Taskmaster deck, but with with several other avenues for the big slam, including Kitty if she shows up early enough, and Magik enabling Taskmaster to copy a HE enabled Hulk if needed. It's a Bounce that plays like and HE! It's a HE that plays like it's Bounce! I like it, and when Rogue swiped my opponent's Morbius (who was playing a fusion discard/Collector and SHIELD deck), they pretty clearly gave up that that point.
I think I may have created my best Negative deck. It's kind of a flood deck. You will usually have most of the board filled by the end but I'm sure some would call it a bounce deck just because of Kitty. I've had games of 20+ across the board and you can almost every game guarantee 20 in 2 lanes. It's main surprise is Absorbing Man. Turn 6 Shang Chi into Absorbing Man is not expected by anyone. There are way too many Evolved Hulks and Shuried Red Skulls without protection. If you don't have any Shangable targets then Hit Monkey into Absorbing Man for a lot of power.

# To use this deck, copy it to your clipboard and paste it from the deck editing menu in Snap.
Edit: It also works just as well even if you don't get Mr. Negative out. Even makes a turn 5 Negative not feel too bad.
Not sure why this happened but the guy used Spider Ham twice, it hit aero and a destroyer from agent 13. This coupled with Sera and Elysuim for some reason made them cost 1 and 2 respectively. Funny though because Spider Ham is annoying.
Just now, I had possibly the craziest match I've ever had: it involved me playing Agatha, Agatha getting pigged, a Viper from X-Mansion delivering me a Carnage, an Armin Zola from X-Mansion letting me Thing the other two lanes, the other guy freeing up Raptor space with Killmonger, Ghost Rider reviving Pigatha, and finally, an 18 power Hulk.
I have the tokens to get Jean, but I'm intending to hold fast for the patch, and try the Spotlight system.
EDIT: Then they announced the delay, and I caved. Oh well, Jean has some pretty great variants anyway. This may be a Hot Take, but while everyone knows her 90s Jim Lee look used for her default card art, I think it's actually among the least of her outfits.
I feel like they delayed the patch because Jean is so buggy.
I just learned something this morning. If you play a card behind Invisible Woman Shuri doesn't recognize that a card has been played. Someone played against me IW right lane, Shuri middle lane, Task Master behind IW, Then EvoHulk behind Shuri. The Hulk was 28 power and when IW revealed Taskmaster he copied Hulk. I couldn't even be upset.
Yeah, things behind IW don't count as "played" until they're revealed. This can be very handy for Task Master or Mystique...but can also make it easy to f*ck up Task Master or Mystique.
I did the cool player thing of 1- stocking up on credits and caches, 2- waiting for reports that everyone gets Spotlights at the same level, 3- opening everything else, 4- updating and opening the new Spotlights. I had 3, first one actually had Kang in it, and then I scored with #2:
Damn, that Jean Grey variant is really nice. Makes me want to get Jean with tokens and open some cache's, but I have a plan I need to stick to, lol.
Surfer was already everywhere, now it's Surfer with Jean. Have played against so many Jean into Juggernauts. Won't be long before they start Waving out Sandman. Makes me wish you could play Ebony Maw on 4.

Yeah, I'm pleased--I think her Phoenix/Dark Phoenix costumes are top tier.
I need to pay more attention to Snap chatter. I had no idea what was incoming so I've been merrily opening caches.
Although to be fair I was collecting tokens for Ghost Spider specifically.
Gwen is a lot of fun, I think that's a pretty good choice.
On my store refresh, I found:
Which I don't regret, OG(ish) Marvel Girl is also a great look. But I'm still on default with Kitty, Cyclops, Beast, Magik, Dazzler, and Psylocke /frown
My last two token purchases have been Ghost Spider and Iron Lad and I have a great time with both.
Gwen opens up fun play in a movement deck. Although tossing Human Torch around leaves you very sensitive to Killmonger and I need a replacement for Multiple Man, or something to power him up.
Iron Lad is delightfully chaotic in a Patriot deck. My favourite is when he copies Brood.

That deck is just so stable. As long as Enchantress isn't in every other deck like she was for a month or so, it can be run against kind of whatever.
I won a game with Lad hitting Wasp on turn 6 because it gave him the Patriot bonuses and he turned into a 4/10.
Unless you run the versions of the deck with Mystique/Ultron there's just no truly bad hits for Lad in it.

I always have Invisible Woman in my Patriot deck, which makes it extremely hard to counter unless they’re crazy enough to have both Enchantress AND Rogue.
Lots of people are up in arms over the Spotlights, but I decided I may as well open another one this week and hope for Iron Lad, and lo, I got Iron Lad. "Wait until you don't get what you want! Wait until it gives you Snowguard!" I hear them saying, but that hasn't happened yet, and I already have Snowguard.
It's less the spotlights I have an issue with and more that the normal ones are pointless in opening now on account that instead of hundards tokens to spend, you get 50, makes the shop also pretty much pointless unless you spend real money on those expensive bundles.
Just going to horde the normal ones until they do something new with them, which I never did before, so the opposite of what SD wanted us to do with them.
I uninstalled the game yesterday. As much as I enjoyed playing around with decks and collecting and splitting, the grind and my addictive personality was making it too toxic for me. I'd been thinking about doing it and the new system helped push me over the edge.
So enjoy Daken in his current form because someone figured out a combo with Zola that makes Daken go from 4 power to 30-60 power on turn 6 and that was like half the decks I faced thursday. The only way to stop it is to have turn priority and immediately Cosmo that lane because if he gets Zola’d it’s impossible to stop the Combo as long as they have an open lane to play Modok.
