Marvel Snap - Catch-all

I've been playing a move deck since the featured location is good for move decks.

I had a pretty frustrating day. It seemed like suddenly something happened to my matchmaking, and I was getting pitted against sharks who got perfect draws every time, while the game refused to let my Negative deck do anything. I switched to the dreaded Zero Shuri, and saw a little more success, but no progress on that really irritating "Win with 4 cards" mission, and also it was only a little more success. So I said "f*ckit," and turned to my Cerebro 2.

And the hero I needed and deserved made himself known.

M'Baku turned my day around. He didn't save every match, or even most of them, but the times he did fly in to save the day made me cackle with glee every single time. M'Baku isn't a great card...but he's the greatest card. And he did win several times.

April is Pet Season. New cards include Hit Monkey and Jeff the Shark. There’s rumors that The High Evolutionary is coming as well, with an absolutely bonkers ability that unlocks new abilities in other cards and will probably become the new meta.

He looks cool and all but this seems overly optimistic. He only adds abilities to cards that don’t already have one. So essentially the Patriot package cards, except less options because token cards like Squirrels or White Tiger’s tiger aren’t in your deck and don’t gain anything.

They’re very specific abilities that have some interesting synergy but also have already existing counterplay. I do think there is at least an interesting deck there.

For reference for those who haven’t seen it, the list of cards High Evolutionary works with and the abilities he gives them at least as they exist in the game files right now:

Evolved Wasp [0/1]: On Reveal: Afflict 2 random enemy cards here with -1 Power.
Evolved Misty Knight [1/2]: When you end a turn with unspent Energy, give another friendly card +1 Power.
Evolved Shocker [2/3]: On Reveal: Give the leftmost card in your hand -1 Cost.
Evolved Cyclops [3/4]: When you end a turn with unspent Energy, afflict 2 random enemies here with -1 Power.
Evolved The Thing [4/6]: On Reveal: Afflict a random enemy card here with -1 Power. Repeat this twice more.
Evolved Abomination [5/9]: Costs 1 less for each enemy card in play that’s afflicted with negative Power.
Evolved Hulk [6/12]: Ongoing: +2 Power for each turn you ended with unspent Energy.

I think there’s definitely a good package to be built there, but I think you end up pick and choosing specific bits of it and filling the rest of your deck with other things.

Hulk seems like the biggest benefactor here to me. Dropping a 22 power Hulk and a 9 power She Hulk both on turn 6 sounds fun. Misty Knight’s ability also looks genuinely good and reliably useful. Shocker’s will be high variance in its effectiveness but is not bad.

The Thing, Abomination, and Cyclops, I dunno we’ll see. They’ll be good if half the world doesn’t just start stuffing Luke Cage in their decks.

But next month Valkyrie, Shuri, and Bast all drop to series 3 and become widely accessible. There’s a great Valkyrie/Luke Cage deck that already exists and works really well that would kind of beat up half the cards High Evolutionary works with.

I’ve got a Bast/Valkyrie deck and those cards are too situational and have a hard cap to how much power they can bring to a location, I don’t think they’ll gain as wide a usage as Shuri already has. High Evolutionary basically gives you a deck built entirely out of Sunspots, Scorpions, and She-Hulks. It’s going to be extremely popular.

Yeah, High Evolutionary looks neat, I'm in the camp that suspects he'll do wild things with blended decks.

I just had a very amusing match against someone who was so committed to their Wong plan, they didn't stop even though I Cosmoed that lane as soon as Wong showed up. Granted, that wasn't the worst idea, because that plan hinged on some pretty beefy cards like Black Bolt and Odin, but still, I had Sunspot there, it was a Magikal She-Naut deck, it didn't work out for them.

Edit: My Pity Pool 4 finally arrived, and it was... Shadow King, who is my favorite B tier X-Men antagonist, below that Magneto, Apocalypse, Dark Phoenix, Master Mold/Nimrod/Sentinels and the Humans Making Them level, but also seems like a pretty lacking card. Then again, he also seems like a prime candidate to be touched up, since he could help deal with the Dreaded Red Skull decks. Still, would have rather got Dazzler. And Bast or Zabu would have helped my Negative deck a lot.

Been playing a discard deck that focuses on buffing and discarding swarm. I've gained a lot of cubes from people assuming I'm doing a typical Hela deck when they see Morbius hit the board.

Who is telling Second Dinner, "Hey, gamers really like it when you take control away from them."?

Probably Agatha.

I don’t mind Krakoa since it only plays turn 5 and by that point most of my decks have decided whether or not they’ll win anyway. Apparently everyone else minds it, though, because out of all the matches I played last night, all but two or three had the other player nope out as soon as Krakoa was revealed.

I think Krakoa is funny, but it has utterly botched turn 5 of a game I could have turned around. I guess in keeping to the lore, its ways are inscrutable and often inconvenient. When they get to adding Cypher, he should nullify its effect.

I became Pool 3 Complete @ 3214 last night. Right now, I have 4.3 tokens, so I don't need to make any decisions right away, but I'm torn between saving for one of the big boys, or saving for Kitty, who's iconic, but also seems very cool, and like she may rival Sunspot as the handiest 1 cost card.

I mean it is an awful location on account it doesn't let the player of the game play the game. That said I did make a no ability deck that is almost too simple for even the stupidest A.I to missplay by turn 3, so erm yeah it totally played Iron Man on the loction that had no cards on it.
Then it turns out that deck was pretty solid

I'll have Rhino in my deck until this isn't featured anymore.

I bought Negasonic yesterday and she isn't as handy in destruction decks as you would think, but she's great for control as long as you are not playing against a destruction deck. People will play something on her immediately because they think you want to use her, or they will ignore the lane. I thought she would help my Nimrod deck, but I never get to make her explode.

I've got Kitty pinned. Might be a while before I get her, but I'm excited to use her with Angela in my zoo deck.

Be glad this location came after they shorted it to 24 hours.

I just wish Krakoa would play in a makes sense sort of way...

It played Shuri then Mjolnir on the same location. More sense to play those two but in reverse order. At least then I could do something with the Shuri reveal.

I've had Mjolnir played on a different location from Wong.

I've seen it play Black Panther not where Wong is located.

The list goes on...

I think I've seen it make something like a play I might make once in all the times it's popped up today.

Like Agatha and Ego, it’s just randomly playing cards according to what it can afford to play and what locations are open, it’s not going to do well with technical decks or specific combos. I personally like the small amount of chaos it adds.

No one expects the Cerebro 7. Wonged White Tiger, Hulk Bustered Domino, and Onslaughted Cerebroed Mystique. It's fun to build.

Apparently Kitty is breaking the game, not just the meta.

Pool 3 complete at collection level 3412

I do need to put together some more decks besides my Patriot Deck and the fun Deathwave deck with Arnim Zola and Krull I've been rocking. That's a high risk but high reward deck I've enjoyed.

What's bizarre about this move is that Kang has been forcing crashes in like 10 different situations every single game they happen for weeks and he's still in there, dragging out games in the most boring way possible.

If they retreat during the Kang rewind animation? Crash. Is Daredevil active and they play Kang? Crash. There's a bunch of them.

But also I'm salty because I skipped Kang and he gets to keep crashing my game but I bought Kitty and now she's disabled.

Well, as many people have pointed out, Kitty's phasing powers do also disrupt computers and other electronics.

It's not like the game wasn't already buggy enough to begin with. Kang, Nega, and now Kitty Pride must be a little too much for it to handle.

Hitting a bit of a wall, somewhere in the 30's for rank. Lost about 7/8 games of my last games all against folks with cards that I either haven't seen before and/or don't have access to. It's a pretty frustrating part of any competitive free-to-play game, but folks with those additional cards definitely feel like they have an upper hand. I think I had bad luck - drawing all these folks in relatively quick succession - but, man it really hurts my enthusiasm for the game. I may hang this one up soon.

What is your collection level?

We all will do we all, but personally, I find the game much more fun focusing on collecting and pulling off cool moves, and considering rank a nice bonus.

With that in mind, the duo of Titania and The Hood have been brutal with Bar With No Name as the featured location. Could be a hot take, but I like featured locations: obviously you don't plan entirely around one, but it's fun to be able to anticipate that one will likely be in play.

My go to has been Zero+Green Goblin or Hobgoblin.

How do you calculate? I think I’m getting rank 3 cards.

I made a whole deck around Bar With no Name today, and it was so much fun messing with it. Seems folk have wised up now, but Quake was the MVP for sure.

It's the number just below your profile picture.
