1. The guy who looked like The Celts player-coach all through the playoffs gets dealt. That seems odd at best.
2. I need to know what the smoothing-over process will be like for Malcolm Brogdon.
Look, I know we wanted to ship you to the Clippers, but now we need you to take a significant upgrade in role now that Smart is gone.
So... we cool right!?
3. Wizards are really trying to bottom out now after the once-a-decade prospect is set to be drafted.
4. I kinda want to know what made the first deal fall through.
Well that's not the same trade.
Not sure how much I liked the first one as I don't trust Porzingis to be healthy but it involved Brogdon who is also injury prone.
I guess Smart is in decline but as already mentioned he was probably bringing more to the table than just his actual play.
Chris Paul. To the Warriors. For Jordan Poole.
.........riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.
What happens if Dray punches CP?

What’s the riiiight for?
I mean it’s definitely not what I expected but I don’t hate it.
I kinda do for both sides. I don't think CP3 gets the Warriors closer to contending next year than Poole did and I think Poole is a better fit for what they need. And I think Poole is too good to truly help Washington tank.
Or maybe I just like Poole too much.
Or is this a play to try to get Draymond to come back?

I just dunno how this works? But I guess if CP3's willing to be a bench player... but is he?
Also, Wizards got the cap room to sign Kyrie.
Poole isn't that good. He is like a poor man's Bradley Beal. If this trade is real it is 100% because the Warriors regret giving that contract, which has been the case for almost all of these big contracts lately within 2 years of the team signing them.
I don't understand getting CP3 when you want the ball in Curry's hands. Paul is not worth playing unless he is going to have the ball most of the time. Maybe it is mostly for the regular season where Curry will take off 15 games and sit for ~15 minutes a night in the other games and Paul runs the show during those times. The problem is the way that Paul plays with the slow it down very methodical style is kind of the opposite of how Kerr wants the Warriors to play...
Do you actually want the ball in Steph's hands?
You do once he zig zags off his crazy off the ball movement but Steph isn't actually a PG IMO.
Not sure if CP is the answer at his age but I guess it's indicative of how low Poole's value was.
Going to be hard to cheer for the Warriors if that trade happens. CP3 the dirtiest guy in the league. Everybody wear a cup.
I guess Draymond's leaving, then.
Some of the trades going down make me think the new CBA’s attack on super teams is having effects already. Suns aside.
John Collins to Utah for … a second round pick and Rudy Gay?
I can’t imagine the price being this low for any reason other than Atlanta deciding that they can’t afford 4 big contracts going forward and that Young, Murray, and Capela are their three.
I think it's already having an effect on PHX, too.
Beal, KD, Booker...Ayton?...and the rest of the roster is you, me, the fan in 23A, the owner and 62yo Isiah Thomas?
Who is ready for free agency?
Besides Jalen and Jeff Van Gundy?
In all seriousness, what the hell is ESPN doing getting rid of two of their better commentators?
Yeah, not with WBD calling the shots.
Draymond signs four-year, 100 million deal with the Warriors. So he'll take care of kicking balls, CP3 will handle punching.
Kinda zzzzz so far in free agency. Bunch of guys are just staying put really.
Surprised by Kuzma. But maybe that one is wink wink nod nod. Just sign here and we will flip you at the deadline anyways.
Wow Freddy VanVleet got paid. Good for him.
130 3 years to the Rockets.
Not sure that really changes much for the Rockets though. Welcome to the play in?
Man Jokic just made Bruce Brown like 30 million dollars. I hope Brown buys him a nice watch or something.
A lot of shorter contracts going on. I wonder if it is team driven because of the phased-in CBA or agent driven because of the new TV deal coming.
Lakers have resigned Rui, added Cam Reddish and Gabe Vincent.
Really hope someone throws a boat load at Reaves and forces their hand.
The Van Gundy firing is stunning. The main ESPN play-by-play crew just got 50% less listenable. On the flip side he’s going to be awesome on TNT.
He's by far the lesser Van Gundy. Good riddance

While I agree The Younger is much worse, he's still a giant compared to many other commentators. Is Mark Jackson still there?
I wish there was a way to get unfiltered SVG broadcasts. That would be epic.
I guess they had to spend their cap space on something, but VanVleet at over $40m per year seems wild. Dude shot 39% from the field and 34% from 3 last year.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the new cap and it's implications but also like f*ck that. I enjoy watching basketball not understanding the economics and strategy of their f*cked up made up closed system.
The Ringer NBA pod + Simmons keep referencing how the new structure is extra punitive when you get to the 'second apron' whatever that means. Just making up terms now I guess for what the the second level of going over the cap is.
Thing I don't get is it's being referenced as if this is somewhat a surprise? Weren't the owners/GMs privy to the situation coming.
Heres a simple argument against salary caps. I don't f*cking want to learn them as a fan especially when it turns into advanced finance.
I could care less if the Lakers could just spend whatever they want because they would probably still f*ck it up.
Rumor has it that he wants to take his talents to South Beach.

If there are two things I love in today's Sonics-less NBA, those things are:
Dame
Pat Riley in full Tywin Lannister mode at the end of his storied career, exacting vengeance on old enemies and building a lasting legacy (well, maybe that last part didn't end so well for Ty. But other than THAT!).
