NBA 2022-23 Season Catch-All

Wait, NBA votes are like local city council votes where you draw a line or punch something on a Scantron? You don't respond to a crystal clear, branded tool? These guys haven't heard of Surveymonkey? There isn't an app that is sent to only authorized users with clear, mistake-proof UI?

Hahaha. The NBA. It's faaaaantastic.

From what I understand it is a website where they pick from dropdowns. I don't know how the UI is designed...

When I try to think of other teams like this Heat team nothing really comes to mind. 2011 Mavs? Kinda. Jimmy is Dirk, Lowry is Kidd, Love is Peja, Bam is Chandler(?), Gabe Vincent is Barea, Caleb Martin is Deshawn Stevenson. Two stars in prime, a couple tossed-off has-beens, and a lot of solid role players doing excellent work.

But that doesn’t equate cleanly because the Mavs were good wire-to-wire that year. Some of the smart pundits had the Heat losing two play-in games and missing the playoffs this year. It’s like 2011 Mavs meets 1999 Knicks.

22 point lead with 3:45 left in the 2nd. Celtics have no-showed again.

Denver versus Miami sounds like an 80s AFC Championship match-up.

I know folks like to downplay coaching in the NBA but this Celtics team improved its personal from last year, is healthier, but doing significantly worse. I'm wondering if they get swept, or close to it, in this series if Mazzulla is in hot water. He is a complete defensive child at press conferences so I'm already not a fan.

Get Boston tf out of here. Christ.

Oh yeah this series is done

I normally don’t listen to Bill Simmons when he isn’t talking nfl gambling. I may make an exception for tomorrow

I know as a neutral fan of a bad team I’m supposed to root for a long, hard-fought series. Is it strange that I really enjoy a one-sided drubbing? This is taking me back to 2011 Lakers-Mavs.

The Bill Simmons podcast tonight is going to be an all-timer.

2004 Pistons.

Easy.

DONE. No reason for us all to sit around for Game 4.

Also, like... where does Jimmy go in the pantheon now, after this? Even if they lose in the finals, we gotta talk about him like one of THOSE guys now, right?

I feel like you need a championship to be a bold, capitalized Guy. /shrug

If he wins this year, sure, but I’m favoring Denver, maybe at my own peril. If he doesn’t win this year, never wins, maybe… Reggie Miller level?

Can we all agree that Mazzula is a bad coach now? At the most charitable you can say inexperienced.

Also most everything I see from him he just seems like a dick. But supposedly the players like him?

I think so. He got very close with Philly as well.

Also Heat culture is real.

Sixers going with Ben Simmons over Butler will haunt the franchise for an eternity.

Yikes

Indeed. When people frame it as Butler or Harris it makes me crazy. That was not the choice.

I'm currently taking Denver, because I think Jokic >>> Jimmy, but as DS said, Heat Culture (uuuuggggghhhh) is real.

But if Jamal Murry keeps this sh*t up, Nuggets in 6.

Magic Johnson’s Twitter feed is famously so boring that people spoof it for his freezing cold takes. Tonight, though, the Celtics were so bad that Magic was roasting them.

Weirdest stat of the night for me. Celtics were +22 on the boards. Only 10 times has a playoff team had a 20+ rebound margin and lost. Only 4 of those by double digits. Last night was a record for ass kicking.

It’s an interesting fluke stat, but I think part of how you can account for this is all of their kisses and the fact that the Heat shot like 60%.

Basketball fandom is almost unanimous in asking, "He wasn't retired already?"

Mazzulla is pretty much done.

I wonder if this gets up to Brad Stevens even. If they get swept he might be in trouble also.

It was pretty tame.

He's been rightfully out on this Boston team for awhile and also terrified of a potential zombie Heat match up.

I guess watching the Heat is why teams like the Raptors dont want to hit full reset. Biggest losers besides the Celtics are obviously Philly.

Whatever culture Embiid and the 76ers are brewing ain't winning sh*t.

LeBron getting chippy. Toss him

The ‘gentleman’s sweep’ is in effect.

League office called the refs at halftime and said the fix was too obvious
