RIP. A great author. If I had a long road trip coming up I would often pick up one of his audiobooks for the ride. Even if it was a topic or person I didn’t really care about, he always had a way of making it interesting and I was always happy I “read” it.
I'm in the middle of reading Mornings On Horseback right now. He's the first author I read that made history accessible, enlightening, and poignant. I believe I saw The Great Bridge randomly in a bookstore and picked it up on a whim. I immediately fell in love with it. Since then I've read The Johnstown Flood, John Adams, Truman, 1776, and The Greater Journey. It's a painful loss, but what a legacy he leaves behind.
Sad, no more easy Father's Day gifts.
