2022/23 Soccer Thread: We're Really Doing This, Huh?

The question, of course, is who can afford ManU. The list of suitors I can imagine is... somewhat disappointing.

Manchester United and Liverpool for sale: Saudi Arabia would 'definitely support' private sector bids - sports minister

Also included therein is essential confirmation that they're definitely bidding for 2030.

Holy sh*t. Won't likely see a better goal this tournament.

Fox Twitter video

The end of that clip is shades of Just Bleed Guy.

The Saudi’s can’t own Liverpool and Man United and Newcastle - league rules are pretty clear on that.

Of course that doesn’t mean they can’t/won’t try to game the rules to be able to do so, but I think it would be a point of no return if they did. They’ll have to make do with Newcastle I reckon.

First Iran goal was a beauty.
I didn't see the whole game, but Wales don't really seem to deserve going through.

Well, the Welsh are probably out of the tournament after 2 evenly matches teams went hammer and tongs at each other for 86 minutes before Wayne Hennessey was rightly sent off for wiping out an attacker after rushing out of goal, and then a cracker of a strike from Iran to seal it a couple of minutes later.

Not sure either team we’re that good truth be told and Gareth Bale was very slow - I think Wales old guard of Bale, Ramsey and Allen are probably a bit past it at this level

I'm here to see Qatar get skunked in all three games and get knocked out without scoring a goal.

Oh well.

Well, however this ends, I hope all USMNT fans understand

1 - Iran is no pushover
2 - For a variety of reasons, they're gonna be UP FOR IT

Also, I expect

- A 1-1 draw that just leaves everyone pissed
- A memorable 2-1 U.S. victory, and then we blow it against Iran

US had some chances. Dang that crossbar.

If Weston McKennie could shoot, we might be up 2-0.

Not impressed with this England at the moment. There are a couple of players on our bench I’d have started - Foden for starters - it’s just too slow and too predictable.

Still I’d say it’s about 50:50 at the moment. Not a lot in it.

Genuinely surprised by this game. I thought the U.S. would get rolled, they are here to fight against a big European team in a way I don't remember any USMNT WC squad doing since That Game against Germany.

England look absolutely shook and why I have no idea.

Not sure why they haven't made a sub yet.

I am getting very annoying FM vibes from this game, I gotta say. Lotta "highlights," but never getting anything on target or working the keeper.

I would like to make a rule that the only people allowed to do the Icelandic Thunderclap are the Iceland supporters.

Foden a big change. Feeling like the US has to ride out the result now.

Humorously, Maguire has been quite good! MotM, in my estimation.

EDIT: There's always a moment where my brain goes "Oh yeah, Tim Weah is GEORGE WEAH'S SON"

You and everyone who plays against the Minnesota Vikings.

That was a game England played not to lose for almost all the second half.

Alright, a 0-0 draw that leaves everyone pissed.

Aww should have put it in the box one last time.

Solid draw though

The bad news is they need to beat Iran. The good news is they won't depend on the result of the other game.

Yes.

I didn't understand that at all.

Now everything is clear. Beat Iran and go through. Nervy game ahead.

Yeah, Iran is not bad, and as I said, they are going to give it 150%.

Lewandowski finally gets off the mark and now has the same number of World Cup goals as Peter Crouch.

France takes the late lead. Mbappe!

The pass was beautiful. Just had to not screw it up.

I felt like Schmeichel could of done better on that one. But it's nit picking and involves potential homicide flying out to attack the ball and anyone in the vicinity.

His Dad would of done it.

Poor Kasper Schmeichel. Your entire career seen through the prism of ‘your Dad would have done that better’…..

I reckon ̶F̶r̶a̶n̶c̶e̶ Kylian Mbappé will win the cup... again. What a Technical gifted Powerhouse!
