Genuinely surprised this wasn't Lampard but 9-0 will do that to you.

I reckon Gerrard’s in more trouble than Lampard at the moment.

Jack Ross goes at Dundee United. Not a good weekend if you lost 9-0. Ralph Hasenhüttl must have made some really good cases after his two!

7 whole games. Yikes.

He has had quite the rise and fall, I was living in Suffolk at the time and Ipswich really wanted him when he went to Sunderland. He really was quite in demand after his tenure at St Mirren but his clubs since have not gone to plan. I suspect he will find himself kicking around the Scottish lower leagues again now.

Dundee United have lost five in a row, and that includes a 7-0 Europa loss in addition to the Celtic hammering. Still seems early to sack him, though.

After the Liverpool game, Scott Parker made some pointed comments about the lack of investment, which seems to be the main reason for his sacking. Said the owner: "In order for us to keep progressing as a team and a club as a whole, it is unconditional that we are aligned in our strategy to run the club sustainably. We must also show belief in and respect for one another."

And when he went to Sunderland we ended up taking Paul Hurst and he got fired after 15 games. So that went well.

Went went Paul Hurst -> Paul Lambert -> Paul Cook and they were all garbage.

Paul Goddard was caretaker manager for a bit in the 90s and won exactly zero games, which means Paul Jewell remains the unchallenged Best Ipswich Manager Called Paul.

And he was rubbish.

He did oversee a 1-0 win in Europe vs Alkmaar (the first leg of that 7-0 drubbing), which was one of their best results in years. Obviously not enough to save him, though.

That's absurd. Yes, 9-0 is humiliating, but it's a one-off (against LIVERPOOL)! It's been four games and you're not even in the relegation places?

Do the owners really think they should've taken more points from LFC & Man City away, Arsenal at home?

i guess maybe this was about his comments about signings, but really, incredibly stupid.

Some pretty interesting results today! Pleased to see Chelsea establishing themselves as a mid-table team.

ustin Kluivert transfer from AS Roma to Fulham is off - 23yo Netherlands midfielder refused work permit. Despite featuring for #OGCNice on loan last season, lack of recent appearances for #ASRoma meant he failed to meet FA criteria & appeal was not allowed

Mitro losing his PL hoodoo must feel great for Fulham fans after sticking with him.

Brexit means Brexit!

Remember back after the Community Shield, when Erling Haaland missed a couple chances aand morons on the internet were like "HE'S A FLOP!"

Currently up to eight, the most in August in Premier League history.

Haaland has already scored 2 goals against Forest and they've only been playing 20 minutes. Another 9-0 on the cards.

Another hat trick.

Christ, he's actually NOT overpowered in FM, he's correctly rated.

Mmm. Klopp is my favorite manager but... eesh, this is a rather inauspicious start to the campaign.

I still think the World Cup's going to make this season absurd, though.

If Liverpool put nine past Bournemouth, how many will City? 15? 30?

Bummer game today for Spurs, even though it was an away draw in a London derby. We scored first, then gave up a really dumb turnover leading to a goal.

Meanwhile Arsenal stays perfect and City separate themselves a bit.

Edit: And Liverpool snatched a win at the death? What happened? I just saw the score.

Scenes!

You better treat Fabio good, Liverpool.

Is there a champions of August trophy?

If so please ship it to the Emirates.

Some quick silly math.

Arsenal current points 15
Average points last season 1.81 per game.
33 games left at that form = 59 points.
74 for the season.
That's 3rd 2nd and 3rd in previous seasons.

So save this when Arsenal don't manage to qualify for the CL this year because it's already there's to lose.

Bundesliga's got a winter break champions trophy, might as well.

Loving what Arsenal is doing, but we're all agreed, if the Blonde T-800 remains fit, City's walking the title this year, right?

Certainly looks that way doesn’t it. It’s a bit depressing to be honest.

Liverpool dodged a bullet tonight, but were much the better team in the second half and probably just about deserved it. Newcastle started time wasting almost from the seconds half whistle, so don’t have a lot of grounds to moan about the length of added time.

Wow. What a great game.

Just got back from my first in-person soccer match since the pandemic. Houston played LAFC, and although we've been dire, I wanted to see Gareth Bale play in person. Judging by the crowd (and many Bale jerseys), I wasn't the only one.

However, it wasn't his night. Houston scored first through a penalty for a handball, for which the VAR initiated a check. Then Houston gave up kind of a lame header where we hung our keeper out to dry.

In the second half, they brought Bale on (and took Chiellini off, though not at the same time). First our keeper saved a Bale header at close range. Then, after our keeper left the six yard box, another player had to make a goal line save on a Bale shot. Both of these happened within a minute or two, and drew a lot of applause. Finally, our keeper made an incredible double save from close range and I was hollering "Someone get this man a goal!"

And then someone (Dorsey, I think) made a beautiful shot from the edge of the box to go up 2-1 and the Dynamo managed to keep that lead for the rest of the game, despite a questionable (from the stands) second yellow on known biter Darwin Ceren and then a stoppage time that greatly exceeded the announced EIGHT minutes.

Best regular season soccer game I've been to, easily. And it was arguably the best team in the league losing to maybe the worst. This is why we sports.

Oh it's deadline day.

Aubameyang to Chelsea already.

The arm race is real. Liverpool bringing in Arthur Melo from Juve as coverage also.

I'm sure United will spend another 100m+ because hysteria.

I doubt anyone had Willian back to the prem on their bingo card.

Congrats to Fulham I think? Not sure how much he has left but not much risk really.

Willian is good and all, nice get, but Leicester is on the cusp of signing Marcelo! <3

He's the "didn't get Kluivert" consolation prize.

I don't even think we need a full season out of him, we need like a "be decent to good in 15-20 games" season, which I hope he can do.

Now, that said, I should pretend I am VERY angry that we've signed a player with 200+ appearances for one of our rivals, but meh.

EDIT: Layvin Kurzawa too? Ehhhh......

I'm absolutely going to let my FM history color my response here, because in my latest save it's 2024 and he's playing for 15th-placed Sheffield United in the Championship.

EDIT v2: GIVE US BEN BRERETON DIAZ, BLACKBURN
