NFL 2022: The preseason thread

Reminder: NFL releases the 2022 schedule tonight.

A lot of the games have already been leaked.

In case you don't think the NFL has a sense of humor, one of the rumored Week 1 matchups is Panthers at Browns -- Baker's new team (maybe) against his old one.

Better than that: Jaguars vs. Commanders.

Losing to the Jags in the last regular season game (and missing the playoffs as a result) was the final straw that got Wentz booted out of Indianapolis.

Or, to quote a Jags Reddit commenter:

Wentz back to back games? winning streak on the way

And if that's not good enough, the VERY NEXT WEEK, the Colts play their annual road game in Jacksonville. The Colts have famously lost 7 straight in Jacksonville, with last year's game obviously being blamed very heavily on Wentz. So back-to-back, the Jags play vs. Wentz, and then host the Colts. Imagine if Wentz wins and the Colts still can't win in Jacksonville.

The big buzz today (or perhaps yesterday and I missed it) isn’t about schedule leaks, it’s about the hype video the Miami Dolphins posted of “Tua to Cheetah”.

The problem with the video? Tua’s throw to Tyreek appears to be significantly underthrown.

That's amazing.

Packers get a week 14 bye which is weird to read until you remember there's so many games. Always preferred a later bye to early though.

Their lawyers made a good call there.

Never invest long term in the RB position.

Haha. Poor Falcons. That will haunt them for the rest of the teams existence.

That's a really good second-place attempt! But the Panthers' social media team remains undefeated:

It's '95 music which kind of works with the AOL bit, but the NES instead of the SNES?

Ha, I saw that article too.

Henry's dropoff in broken tackles has been pretty severe.

Man, he had 219 carries last year in only 8 games. He would have left 370 carries way in the dust if he had stayed on the field and maintained that rate. It's no wonder he broke down.

They better hope Malik Willis is good, because this Tannehill-handing-to-Henry offense is quickly nearing its end.

The Jags have signed Jimmy Smith's son, Trey Smith, to the camp roster.

Apparently he was a 7th (!) year senior running back at Wyoming.

He's going to turn 27 during this upcoming season. Not that he's going to still be on an NFL roster by then.

Shout out to them for having the TRUE great NES football game, NES Play Action Football, in the game stack (the green label with yellow writing)

Yep, came here for this and watching the Chargers throw shade at every opponent.

That Panthers schedule doesn't compare, I can't even see the schedule on the shaky cam for half the weeks and it wanders between the 70s and 90s.

I like the lions one too.

Was it really necessary to point out that it was a new building? Was that important to the story?

Can't wait for all the "Matt Ryan still has it, he's the reason the Colts are rolling" stories when six games against the Texans, Jaguars, and whatever is left of the Titans are on the schedule.

Maybe nobody knows what the new building is for yet. The press shows up to cover rookie minicamps and suddenly there's a new building at the practice facility that wasn't there last year, and nobody will answer any questions about it.

That was pretty good, but I'm still taking LAC on this one. I did appreciate the Excitebike cameo.

241 games as an NFL running back, and now boxing. It's like he's taunting CTE.

Compared to the Chargers and Panthers productions the Steelers one is amateur hour, but I got some laughs out of it. Hat's off to all the office linebackers.

This is shaping up to be a great offseason for the Panthers:

* They significantly upgraded their O-line in free agency and the draft
* They got a QB who's, uh, not Sam Darnold
* They produced a great schedule release video (that's on par with the Chargers' vid, I'll admit)
* And now today's news: NBC sacks Drew Brees

Yes, I know, it's petty as hell. But I'll take the W whenever I can get it (and the Panthers' W have been few and far between in recent seasons)

Those are some nice corn flakes you have there. Would be a shame if I pissed in them...

Report: Panthers 'eyeing' trade for Sean Payton after 2022 season

Maybe there's truth there, maybe it's bullsh*t. But enjoy having that in the back of your head for the next few months, k bye!

Ha ha. Payton's under contract with the Saints until 2024, and the chances that NO trades him to a division rival are zero.

Seriously, though, I don't know why this little bit of news came out now. Unless he's the dumbest rock in the box (and it's possible), Rhule knows he has to win more than five games this year. Calling this another half-baked Tepper scheme sounds about right. Dude is as clueless as the smock model he hired to coach the team.

Brees was really bad…wooden and without any charisma. He will have to go full Qaaron to win a Congress seat.
