RIP Sinatar

I don't think he posts here much anymore (if at all) but he was still active on other forums I visit. I know some of the people who have been around here a long time will remember him, most likely because of the Day of the Tentacle avatar.

Apparently he had a pretty big following in the retro gaming section on Twitch and streamed pretty regularly.
Sadly I found out today through that other forum that he took his own life last month.

Rest in peace goodjer.

f*ck, go over the rainbow bridge, my friend...

Aw man, that's horrible news. RIP.

He was an oldie around here for sure. Super sad.

Oh no......

Haven't seen that name in a long time, sad to see it this way.

I believe he was the originator of the GWJ GOTY Awards, or he did them since I started at least. A true forum legend and seemed like a great guy.

That's to bad, rest in peace brother.

So sorry to hear that RIP.

Sad to hear

He'd joined the site about six days after we'd launched it back in 2003. One of those guys you were always glad to see had posted, and interested in what he had to say. Glad GWJ can carry a little bit of his memory.

Wishing peace to him and his family.

What a bummer! That's so sad.

This is incredibly heartbreaking. I hope he has found peace, and his loved ones are in my thoughts.

Oof. Been a lot of RIP threads lately, I even created one of them. When I saw the name though, this one hit me pretty hard.

Celebrities tend to stay in that "other than me" category of people that don't seem quite real because, let's be honest, most of them could be CGI holograms and most of our lives would not change one little bit. So their deaths are no harder for the majority of us than watching someone die in a movie. We're emotionally affected, but generally speaking, nothing really changes for us other than new information about the world is assimilated into our world view.

This was one of us though, and the sting is all the greater because it's so much more real than the others. I hope that Sinatar finds peace and healing in his transition to whatever comes of him after this life.

There is a Buddhist belief that you should change poison into medicine. The outcome of a suicide cannot be undone, but the attention on the individual may bring light and understanding to others that are suffering. Those reading this in that dark place, know that many of us old timers here really do see this as a family. A dysfunctional one at times, one with varying views and beliefs, but one that will always be there to lend an ear, or offer help. Normally though, we're a very tight knit group and a community of people that most of us could never imagine our lives without at times.

There are many people here who will listen, even if they don't respond. You are never alone. If you don't feel comfortable here, there are other resources to help.

I found out about this on ResetEra. I always associate that tentacle avatar of his, with his name. I remember seeing him on Era or NeoGaf and getting excited at recognising somebody.

I feel sad for him and whatever he was going through.

same here buddy, it’s really sad. I saw the news and came right over here.

That's so sad to hear.

It breaks my heart to think of how tumultuous the last 5+ years have been and the effect it has on vulnerable populations.

Seeing these threads, will always be tough.

RIP, Sinatar.

Holy sh*t.

Always associated that image with GWJ because of him.

I'm glad we got to share some time with him. Rest peacefully, fellow GWJer.

I really don't know what to say. "That sucks" sounds glib.

I hope you're at peace now, Sinatar.

Very sad to hear. I remember him fondly. I hope he found peace.

Yes this is rough news. Same sentiments as 1Dgaf, I feel sad for him and whatever he was going through.

Same here. Rest in peace, Sinatar.

Wow, that's a shock
So sad that you were going through such hard things Sinatar - I never knew, and I'm sorry about that.

Rest in Peace purple tentacle.

This hit me hard. Especially when seeing his avatar. I hope he found peace...

I just can't right now. Sorry, buddy. You were one of the best original GWJers.

This is terrible, RIP Sinatar, he was one of the familiar "faces" that popped up on most threads I read back in the day when I joined the site.
Sorry for your loss fellow GWJers, especially those of you that held him as a close online friend.
