PAX East 2022 Catch All

I noticed the PAX East 2022 tickets went on sale on 14th December 2021 and wondered who amongst you would be attending, knowing how fraught things are with a certain Human Malware that's being passed around. Yes there is anti-virus software and I have had 3 installs of it as I type this, so I'm hoping to attend as I enjoyed it since its inception in 2010.

So who is heading to Boston on the weekend over 21-24th April 2022?

I've attended every PAX East so far - including 2020 which transpired right as the pandemic started sweeping through the area, and I was nervous as hell throughout the weekend and for weeks afterward. As much as I want to, I will not be attending in 2022. I think it would be irresponsible behavior for me to gather in such large crowds for long periods of time, even with hopefully high vaccination percentages.

That said, I'm curious to know whether ReedPop intends to sell the same number of tickets as years past, or if they will be running at reduced capacity.

I’d love to go but at this point I’m at wait and see. If things look much different as we approach April than they are now, I’d consider tickets. I was also there in 2020 (and did a trip to NYC right before it all went to hell!).

I’ve been to many of the PAX East’s and would love that kind of event again…

I do have EGX Birmingham and WASD happening in an around PAX East 2022, but they don't have the same spread of games and panels as the Boston event does. I have actually been to a few events since June last year, with the last one being Dragonmeet and I did not contract the plague. But having said that, I can see why people would still be nervous and I too was at PAX East 2020 as the pandemic had technically already hit. It was a very nervous event towards the end and I was happy to get home after it.

I have booked a hotel for now and will see what will transpire over the coming months. April 2022 is a reasonable distance of time to see what has changed between now and then.

Fwiw I went to Pax Prime last summer and they did a great job of keeping things safe. I wouldn’t worry too much about the virus as much as the show might suck. The Seattle show was way paired down to the point that Tales of Arise was the biggest booth.

EGX 2021 suffered a similar fate. However, I did see footage from PAX Unplugged and that gave me some hope.

I have submitted my panel for PAX East 2022. It's called 'We're Still not in the Sword Coast Anymore'. It's a follow on from the one I did at PAX East 2020 where I showcased a bunch of TTRPGs that aren't Dungeons and Dragons. I'm also going to throw in some advice on how to run TTRPGs online.

So…considering the low COVID case counts, anyone going to PAX East?

I am certainly going, I think it's safe enough to do so.

Yeah I’m gonna grab a Sat and Sun ticket. Seems a like the case counts will be very low. Also seems like there are plenty of tickets available. None of the days are sold out…which was unheard of pre-COVID.

I fully appreciate that this is a moribund thread, but is anyone going to PAX East other than those who posted above? It would be nice to meet up during it. I remember in years past it was quite an event for GWJers.
