Wow, the game of the year lists are here!
I have a question for Rich or anyone else who has played Neurocracy. Does it work as an asynchronous multiplayer game? I want to play it with a friend who lives in a different time zone. If we both buy the game on our own and play one episode at a time, will we read the same stuff and be able to talk to each other about it or will we see different things that will be disconnected and not make total sense to one another?
Madre de Dios! Es el pollo diablo!
I think you could absolutely do this with Neurocracy. In fact, that's probably an ideal way to play. I think the game is well served by bouncing your ideas/theories off of someone else whose brain works differently than your own. Playing it with Glendon was clearly a highlight of the year for me and I think it would have been if we had played at different times and then come together to discuss it after the fact.
I also imagine I would have enjoyed playing it on my own quite a bit, but having someone to share it with made it particularly special - and that could be both in the moment or after.
LastSuprise: Destroyer of Wallets would be an excellent tag and/or third handle for you.

Thanks for the insight! I guess now there's only one way to figure out how that would work and it's an easy way because the first episode is free.

Tales of Arise reminds me of the old school Xbox RPG Sudeki. (probably with a better story)
I can't wait to try it. I've had my eye on it as it has been heavily promoted. My concerns are that it was a Dark Souls clone or had that level of difficulty and that put me off big time.
Dungeon Encounters reminds me a lot of how you explored in the old school rpg Phantasie. I loved that game!
That was the game I spend so many hours in before the Gold Box games came out. That and Ultima 3. (and Might and Magic as well)

Because it came up in the episode that just dropped:
We're going to put up a big post with everyone's list, but in the meantime I'll go ahead and provide some references, here's the episode's lists:
~mod~ please spoil these if you post them in the thread ahead of the scheduled FP post so folks aren't accidentally seeing it if they'd rather go into the episode cold. thanks! -Amoebic
