MLB 2022 Season

The Mariners are a very silly team. I like em'.

(This is the part I hate most about being a Yankees fan. The franchise is so drowned in "history" and "tradition" that the idea of having a sense of humor while playing a game is treated as heresy.)

not to mention that our fans tend to be among the worst behaved in the stadium. So, take it seriously unless you feel like throwing sh*t at the visiting team.

Finally getting a chance to sit down and watch yesterdays M’s/Blue Jays game. I know people like to rag on the national broadcast teams, but I gotta say, I really like listening to Tim Kurkjian. He’s like a whole game of ‘remember some guys’ and other random baseball stories. My plan was to just start the game in the bottom of the 6th, but now I kinda want to go back and watch all of it just for the stories.

Learned about him from watching LeBatard. He's the best, it's not just his knowledge (which is insanely vast) but the joy and enthusiasm he has for the game is infectious.

Also, Top 10 laughs.

The Atlanta mascot's hate-boner for the Mets is frankly impressive.

He's trying to move into Gritty's lane.

Blooper on twitter is awesome. I basically just use twitter for news / sports info, but I follow Blooper. He's too entertaining not to and I'm also a Braves fan so it's even better.

The thing about Verlander is, he kinda sucks in the playoffs. Gooooo Mariners!

I do not need these mood swings, Phillies! Nice catch, Nick.

I'll take the win, though.

Go Phils!

Oy, I was driving for the last couple of hours and the last I saw was 7-3 in the top of the ninth.

I like Eflin but he makes me more nervous as a closer than Mitch did.

Our lack of a closer is going to kill us eventually.

Close, but not today.

You choose poorly, Servais

Lol

At least the Yankees didn't blow it tonight, 1-2!

Its 2022 why are white folks still doing the chop at sporting events?

Chaos teams like the Mariners are a TON of fun, but chaos generally doesn't beat "really f*cking good," unfortunately.

Yeah, the Mariners are completely incapable of winning in Houston. They're something like 5-32 in their last 37 games there, which is just incomprehensible. I fully expect Luis Castillo to get blown out Thursday, followed by a close loss at home, but at least there will be a home playoff game, which is a win in my book considering the entire history of the franchise.

Presenting the new HBO Max series Game of Thrones: House of the Goose.

Good series so far.

I really hoped the Phils would come up in the 9th, get Hoskins and Realmuto on with a walk and single, then Harper knock one out.

Instead... well, you know.

Splitting 2 in Atlanta should be a positive. No matter how doomy and gloomy I tend to be, I'm going to stay positive. I am. Really. It will happen. I hope.

I'll be on the road to OKC for the second half of the game today so I will either be pissed or happy when I get to my buddy's house. Either way, he has beer.

Yes, beer good.

A split in Atlanta is a fine result. I just wish we didn't let all our bats go cold.

Reports of boos for Aaron Judge after a 0-4, 4K performance today and I am reminded, as a Yankee fan, that as often as I love us because we're "the worst," I also deeply hate us sometimes because we can also actually be the worst.

I'm liking this 3rd inning so far! I'm GLAD they walked Schwarber!

Edit: What an inning! Please, don't blow this.

A+++

LOL I was just coming to post that second video.

Aaron Nola could get used to this kind of run support.

I'm super happy to see Rhys finally break out a little. Harper's homer was pretty impressive too.

It's always motivating when they give someone an IW to bring you to the plate.

Listen, I don't want one upset.

I want Phillies-Padres and Mariners-Guardians.

Give me MAXIMUM CHAOS.

Yes, please.

Can you think of anything more chaotic than an inside-the-park HR from a catcher?

Way to go!

NLCS time, baby!

Lotta people in the NL whining that the postseason format is "broken" all of a sudden.

Or, alternatively:

202 wins and a season of bad blood just to result in two combined playoff wins is objectively funny

That said, the way baseball works, Washington could've taken 3/5 from any of the teams in the Divisional

It is always bemusing to see American sports fans suddenly start seeing the value in soccer's model. Y'know, like the LA Times.

Funny, since the mlb.com article that I just read pointed out how the Phils were the victims of hot October teams in 2010 (San Francisco) and 2011 (St. Louis). I'm also old enough to remember the 1977 season, when the Phils had 101 wins (behind only KC with 102 wins) but lost to LA in the playoffs.

So, I have some sympathy for that argument, but not right now.
