2021 Community Game of the Year

Pages

For me it's definitely less time for gaming and me using this list to raid for playing the following year, already did Inscryption which will be in my top 3 for 2022 most likely.

Late to the party, but thank you Eleima for your hard work on this list every year. I feel like these thankyous don't do justice for the work, which I'm sure is far more than it seems from this side of things.
Thanks.

Every week it automatically removes games from you backlog

Sounds more stressful than anything

Better yet, radically reduces the amount of money you'll spend on new games when that urge for something new strikes....

See, this is why I need community feedback, because I'm so out of touch. I don't have GamePass and have yet to see the appeal of it. I don't even have time to play the games I DO own!! :D

I am in this post.

Well now we're veering into Pile Management talk, but I don't want to remove games from my backlog, I want to play games from my backlog.

It make games tourism very simple (assuming you have decent internet with no caps anyway). Looking at my purchase history for the past 12 months I have only bought three full price games (Mass Effect Legendary Edition, GTA Trilogy, and Nier Replicant lol all remasters of old games). Looking at the 12 month before that it is a pretty similar story but if you go back further I was purchasing between 6 and 10 full priced games a year.

That awkward feeling when you not only didn't have any of the top 10 on your list but also had only played 1 of the 10. I'm so out of touch.

I played 2 of the 10. One of them I didn't finish, and the second I played in 2020.

If that Metroid Dread rookie mode would have been in from the start, it would have won Game of the Year. How do I know, well...

Spoiler:

I only put five games on my list. I didn't feel like I could play MD enough to put it on, but if I had that mode, I probably could have played enough for the game to at least make 6 on my list. That would give it four more points, which means it would have beat Inscription by one.

I feel unreasonably powerful.

Still waiting on the GWJ GOTY Steam/PSN/XBL sale. Anyone know when that starts? They do that for the top games listed here right?

Usually near the end of the fiscal year. Just keep buying games, and then they will go on sale.
