The plant pot is the clover that lets you draw an extra three cards in act 1 whenever you are offered three cards to pick from, same as if you pick up the clover in act 2, where it lets you redraw your initial hand.

(you can also get a third candle for an extra "life" , and a bug that turns your squirrels into bees from the painting too)

Ohhhh. Do I have to put it on the table to get the clover? I could never figure out where to put it so always ended up sitting it next to the door

I got the clover, and didn't realize I'd also gotten the pot while recording, so I must have also put it on the table.

yeah you place it on the game table when you return to your seat, same as with that original second candle. Once you do that once it's there permanently and then I think that unlocks the second painting puzzle for the next item.

Inscryption marks one of the few games I have gotten all the achievements for. It is also, unquestioningly, my GOTY. There are very few games that I play and beat and immediately start playing again- not came back to it later; I mean I immediately loaded it up again after beating it because I wanted to see if I could change things (I could not).

Things I have found while playing the game

Act 1:
If you sacrifice the ring worm or adder at the campfire, you can kill all the travelers and from then on, you can powerup the maximum number of times from then on.

Snuffing out candles causes smoke to rise

Solving the picture puzzles can give you multiple items

Knowing the right time can ring true later in the game

Undying squirrels might overwhelm your opponents

The amalgam creature counts as every type

Act 2:
A dark lord requires a dark offering. Combining two halves of a broken item yields an item that might just be suitable

Don't overlook a four leaf clover

Two heads are better than one; two cards combined into one are just as good.

The wizards tower is a great place to farm money to complete your collection because of a repeatable, easy battle. Also, if you have a lot of time and right combination of cards, you can do an unholy (666) amount of damage in a single turn.

Follow the magical footprints to find some old data

Sometimes when you're in the woods, its a good idea to pull off the beaten path, maybe spend some meditative time whittling.

Act 3:
This act contains nods to the puzzles from Act 1 and 2. Some might have the same solutions.

If you want to make a card, take a look at the last card made for Inspyration.

It may seem cruel but delivering digital pelts to a digital trader gives you cryptic clues

If the you collected the right keys there myght be room for you to mush some creatures together

Did you guys figure out the undocumented feature on the ouroboros card?

Not only does it return to your hand when it dies, but its attack and defense go up 1 each time.

Not only that but it carries those values game to game.

Not only that but it carries those values act to act! (Ourobot is the same card, etc)

And not only that, but you can basically level this card's attack + defense forever by fighting the practice dummy in act 2 over and over. Combine with a cat or two and the necromancer card... whoa.

Great episode! Thank you!

Throughout the podcast, I had multiple moments of:

  • Yes! I found that, too!
  • Wait, whaaaaa . . . ?

Glendon, your insights were, ahem, golden!

Fantastic discovery!

Hey, I stayed away from this thread until I finished the game and just listened to the podcast.

Although I loved the game for all the reasons everyone loved it, I also was bit less surprised by all the tricks the game pulls on you because some of them, or other similar stuff, are in Daniel Mullins's previous games. But like you said at the end of the podcast, even if you know and expect those things... the game is still wonderful and it's so much fun to go through those things. In any case, you can buy both Pony Island and The Hex for about $5 in the current Steam sale and you should.

I also spent some time trying to "fish" for more of those tricks and I love that the game made me do that. In Act 1, I started trying to get something out of the name of the picture cards. I tried "Daniel," "Mullins," my own name, my steam username... I also searched my own hard drive for "OLD_DATA" to see if the game saved anything to my drive and I was really excited to find an "old_data.sav" file... but it belonged to a different game...

On the flashing box in Act 3, I think it is the start new game button. In act 1, the same flashing light and noise is in the back room of the hut and you cannot use the new game button. In act 2, you can use the new game button and I did not find that flashing thing anywhere. In act three, the flashing thing is in the game again (in that box) and again you cannot use the new game button.

Hey everyone!

I watched the end credits roll last night. I'm working my way through the spoiler-cast today before I jump into my questions and reading through your previous posts.

Hope to join in on some chit chat soon.

Looks like Daniel Mullens will be doing an Inscryption post mortem talk at GDC! Hopefully it makes it to their YouTube channel soon.

I'd watch the hell out of that.

I finally finished and got to listen! Great spoiler section and so much I never even considered while playing. Time to dig into some of that ARG stuff
